Prince George Recreates Prince William’s First Day at Eton College With a Thoughtful Nod
Prince George looked like Prince William's mini-me as he stepped into the next chapter of his life.
Prince George is following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, by starting a new chapter at Eton College this week. However, it seems that education is not the only area where he has been taking advice from the Prince of Wales. On a rainy Tuesday morning, George walked into Eton College on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, sporting a baby blue shirt and a polka-dotted dark blue tie - an outfit uncannily similar to William’s own from his first day at the prestigious institution all the way back in 1995.
While George chose to complete his look with a dark blazer and matching trousers, his father had opted for a chequered suit 31 years ago. The young William was accompanied by his parents, Princess Diana and King Charles, and his younger brother, Prince Harry. The family of four showed a united front for his important day. A scene that was repeated on Tuesday this week, but with William playing a different role — that of a father.
George’s thoughtful nod to his father must have certainly reminded William of the special memory from his own time as a first-time pupil at Eton. Perhaps in honor of those memories or in an effort to show solidarity with his son, William opted to wear a striped baby-blue shirt with a patterned dark-blue tie. The father and son were twinning.
The parallels only grew further once George changed into the black tailcoat and pinstripe trousers. The pictures of the young royal smiling in the hallowed halls wearing the infamous Eton uniform mirrored William’s own pictures from his time at the school. With the charming blonde hair and innocent grin, George was his father’s mini-me. Even their posture, clasping their hands together, appeared to mirror each other.
William and Kate Middleton joined George as he marked this important milestone. The trio was seen giggling as they fended off the downpour with flimsy black umbrellas. The Princess of Wales chose to wear a stunning bottle green Emilia Wickstead midi dress, which she had previously worn in 2023. She paired it with a gold necklace and brown heels.
George’s foray into Eton will mark a major shift in his life, as it will be the first time he studies at a different school from his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Before joining Eton, the teenager attended Lambrook School, where Charlotte and Louis will continue their education. The two younger royals did not join their brother for his first day at Eton on Tuesday.
