In Photos: Kate and William's Proud Parents' Moment as They Drop George Off at Eton

Prince George may have reached a major royal milestone by starting at Eton, but he will always be his parents’ little boy. For the 13-year-old’s first day at Eton College, Prince William and Princess Kate were there to see him off as he started this next chapter of his education. The occasion had royal fans remembering William's first day, who attended the same prestigious school as a teenager. And judging by the photos, it was a pretty special moment for the Wales family.

The Wales family arrived at Eton shortly after 11 AM, and George was walking between his parents through the school’s historic courtyard. The weather was hardly ideal as they made their way inside, but it did little to dampen the mood. George appeared cheerful as he chatted with William and Kate. All three looked relaxed and happy during the proud family moment.

It feels like only yesterday that Prince George was heading off for his first day of school as a tiny four-year-old. Back in 2017, he arrived at Thomas’s Battersea holding his dad, William’s hand, and looking a little apprehensive about the big day. Now, nine years later, the 13-year-old is starting another major chapter at Eton, and this time, he looked confident and ready.

George's outfit for his first day also carried a sweet nod to William. The 13-year-old wore a blue shirt and tie, much like his dad did when he arrived at Eton in 1995. While George’s look was slightly more modern, the similarity was hard to miss, especially with both father and son starting at the famous school at the same age.

Once inside, George was introduced to some of the senior staff, including head master Simon Henderson. As per The Standard, he greeted George with a warm “Welcome, good luck, enjoy it.” The 13-year-old also met Provost Sir Nicholas Coleridge before heading inside with his parents. Kate placed a reassuring hand on George’s back during the introductions. Just a proud mom seeing her son off on his first day.

George also got his first proper look at Eton life in the school’s famous uniform. While he arrived in his regular clothes, he later changed into the traditional Eton dress, complete with a black tailcoat, waistcoat, pinstriped trousers and stiff white collar. Kensington Palace released three new portraits of the 13-year-old, giving royal fans the first look at the future King as an Etonian.
