The Duchess of Sussex has recently embraced an all-white wardrobe, signalling new changes happening in her professional life. From tailored suits to flowing couture gowns, every outfit of Meghan Markle looks carefully chosen, and nothing about her style feels accidental these days. With Amazon MGM, Markle is all set to make a comeback on screen after a long hiatus of eight years. Though she once said she was ‘done’ with acting, it seems she is now more than ready to reclaim her place in the spotlight.

In recent months, Markle has often appeared in shades of white. She wore a sleek Balenciaga white cape at Paris Fashion Week that turned heads for its elegance. Then came her soft sweater and trousers in the 'As Ever' advertisement, filmed under the warm Californian light. Color psychologist Jules Standish told the Daily Mail, "Meghan is constantly reinventing herself, and the colour white gives a sense of optimism, making it the perfect shade for her." However, this was not the only occasion where she donned a white outfit; in fact, the color has followed the Duchess at different stages of her life.

She wore a crisp coat by Line The Label in 2017 when she and Prince Harry announced their engagement. During her royal years as well, she often favored ivory gowns and pale coats. Even after leaving her royal duties as well as the UK in 2020, her all-white looks continued to dominate. Markle’s appearance in a Valentino suit at the 2022 Invictus Games marked her first major event since stepping back from the royal family, and it set the tone for her post-royal image. As per Standish, the choice of wearing white is both symbolic and strategic.

The color is often linked to perfection and purity. "It's a colour that is seen as pure, as well as presenting an image of perfection and calmness. To wear white, you've got to have a lot of confidence. You're not hiding anything, as it gives a sense of fresh openness and purity. It's a very brave move to put an all-white outfit on," Standish noted. So, based on this, Markle’s recent outfits suggest a woman curating her public image carefully, projecting control and renewal. Her return to acting also reflects the same assuredness.

Markle is playing a fictionalized version of herself in Close Personal Friends. The rom-com is being filmed in Pasadena, and a source from the movie set told PEOPLE, “Meghan was on set. She has a small part and seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”  Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams also told The Express that the royal family would likely take her acting news with ‘amusement,’ calling her decision ‘a return to familiar territory.’ “I suspect members of the royal family will be amused that Markle has gone back to acting; we don’t know for how long," he argued.

Along with Markle, the upcoming movie will also feature Hollywood A-listers like Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid. Fitzwilliams also mentioned that by playing herself, the Duchess of Sussex’s ‘self-love’ will be on full display for everyone to see, a contrast to her earlier decision to step away from the UK in search of privacy and distance from constant media scrutiny.
