Meghan Markle's Former Agent Teases Her Next Career Move — Hint: Think Reality TV!
Meghan Markle's former cleared the air about where she might be headed in the entertainment business.
There has been enough speculation about Meghan Markle’s return to the UK in August this year. While it is anyone’s guess why she and Prince Harry have returned after six years, the most common assumptions range from financial woes and career struggles to homesickness. However, Markle’s former agent Ari Emmanuel recently divulged that the Duchess of Sussex may be making a foray into the TV and reality show space.
Last year, Emmanuel stopped representing Markle, though she remains signed with his agency, WME. During a conversation with him, US broadcaster Megyn Kelly mentioned that the Duchess’s career didn’t seem to be going “that well”. However, the top Hollywood agent countered that may not be the case. “I think she's actually getting booked and there's reality stuff and TV stuff. They're doing stuff. I don't know about it,” he said via the Daily Mail.
He didn’t share much information beyond that or even what her upcoming projects would be. However, previously there had been rumors that Markle may be in talks to play a part in the popular Netflix show The Gentlemen's season 3. There is still a lot of noise around it, with no concrete confirmation or denial from either side. Meanwhile, the former Suits star is also slated to make a cameo in the movie, Close Personal Friends.
Emmanuel is currently promoting his new memoir and was recently asked about where Markle’s career was heading. He had replied, “Here's the great thing: I don't have to think about that anymore.” The answer had led some to believe that there was bad blood between him and the Duchess. However, he recently clarified what he meant by the response. “Not in a bad way. I just have a lot on my plate, and I have to be rangeful and all those things,” he said. The agent added that he couldn’t be “rangeful” on her behalf and had shifted focus to more important things.
He stated that other agents under WME were handling Markle’s work now. When asked if there was a “big appetite for her services,” he stated that there was a “bunch of things” the agents were doing for her, which was a “good thing”. He summed up, “I'm just not involved. I'm not involved.”
While any future plans in acting or entertainment are still under wraps, the Duchess will make her first public appearance in the UK since her return this week. She and Harry will travel to Nottingham together, with three important and meaningful engagements planned so far.
