Back in May 2018, Jessica Mulroney was at the forefront of the Sussex fairytale, having been the chief bridesmaid to Meghan Markle as she married Prince Harry at Windsor Castle. Her twin sons served as page boys, and her daughter walked alongside Princess Charlotte as the flower girl at the ceremony, highlighting what seemed like an unshakable friendship between the Toronto stylist and the Duchess. But now, for her, it's a memory tinged with deep regret.

Just two years later, that close bond unraveled, and now, according to sources, Mulroney wishes she had never been part of the royal wedding at all. Speaking to The Daily Mail, a source close to Mulroney said, “If she could go back, a part of her wishes [is that] she was never involved in that wedding.” Once proud to be part of Markle’s inner circle, Mulroney reportedly sees that entire chapter as 'a dark cloud.'

The turning point came in 2020 when Mulroney was publicly accused by Black influencer Sasha Exeter of leveraging her privilege, and her friendship with Markle, in a racially charged dispute during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement. Mulroney, defending herself, had referenced her close bond with Markle to argue that she had “lived a very public and personal experience... where race was front and centre." She reportedly was hinting at Markle's experience as a victim of racism, which she was witness to as her best friend.

Exeter later revealed a private message where Mulnorey allegedly threatened legal action, writing: “Liable [sic] suit. Good luck.” The fallout was immediate as she lost major brand deals and was dropped from TV appearances, over criticism for the contradiction between her public and private responses. She later admitted to feeling 'a lot of shame' and denied being racist, but the damage was done. Markle also cut ties almost immediately, and their years-long friendship came to a quiet but definitive end.

Now, sources claim the repercussions extended beyond the professional front. As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, Mulroney’s 16-year marriage to Ben Mulroney, son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, has reportedly come to an end as well. “She says now that she somewhat regrets becoming friends with Meghan,” a source revealed. “While she enjoyed all the exposure it brought her at the time, that same exposure is what caused her social media rift to blow up in the way it did, and led to the end of her friendship with Meghan and her marriage.”

Although the friendship between Mulroney and Markle didn’t stand the test of time, their wedding featured an undeniably charming bridal party that captured hearts. The bridesmaids, traditionally known as flower girls, included some of the couple’s closest family and their children. Among them were 3-year-old Princess Charlotte, Miss Florence van Cutsem, Markle’s goddaughters Remi and Rylan Litt, Mulroney’s daughter Ivy, and Harry’s goddaughter Zalie Warren. Equally delightful were the page boys, led by Prince George. He was joined by Harry’s godson, Jasper Dyer, and the Mulroney twins, Brian and John, as per Grazia.
