Meghan Markle’s California Move Was ‘Always Part of the Plan,’ Explains Expert
After the Sussexes moved to the US, many felt it was a calculated move, planned by Meghan Markle to be carried out at the right moment.
Alas for Meghan Markle, stepping down as a senior royal did little to reduce public criticism, following her all the way to California. After she and Prince Harry left the royal family and moved to the US, many felt it was a calculated move, planned by Markle to be carried out at the right moment. Royal editor Charlotte Griffins counts herself among them, claiming the Sussexes' move to California was always on the cards. She also believed that the Duchess lovebombed the Duke and exploited his vulnerabilities to achieve her goal.
In an interview with Talk TV, host Mark Dolan asked Griffiths whether Markle rushed into her marriage with Harry to leverage her royal connections. She answered, "I actually think she [Markle] was lovebombing him [Harry], completely love bombing him, playing along with all their plans at the time, saying, of course, I want to live in South Africa, because he really wants to live in South Africa..." Explaining how the Duchess eventually executed their move to the US, she added, "She [Markle] always intended to go to California, but she had to play along with everything he [Harry] wanted for a certain amount of time. There's only so much time she can tolerate not getting her own way."
To argue her case, Griffiths asserted that Markle kept dropping 'little hints' about her relationship with Harry, despite his clear intentions to keep it private. The royal expert lifted the lid behind Markle's many visits to Whole Foods near Kensington Palace, alleging that she knew it was where Daily Mail journalists came for lunch. She continued, "So, yeah, she's [Markle] certainly going into the lion's den. And of course, she got caught, and the pictures came out, and then finally their relationship was properly exposed." And if that wasn't enough, Griffiths also pointed to the fact that the couple invited Oprah Winfrey to their wedding. "That would explain why they invited Oprah Winfrey to their wedding because they were always planning to do the Megxit and the big reveal and the big interview. I think it was always part of the plan," she explained.
Moreover, Griffiths argued that the Duchess used her 'ticking biological clock,' and leveraged his vulnerabilities to trap the Duke into marrying her. She stressed, "She [Markle] absolutely played to all his [Harry] weaknesses...he was very lonely at the time, and she said, 'Look, I'll fulfill all your dreams. I'll protect you from the evil press. Let's run away together to Africa.'" Claiming that a friend of theirs had already exposed the couple's alleged plans to move to Malibu before their engagement, she spilled, "Megan wanted to move to Malibu, and they [Harry and Markle] discussed Malibu. That's what I was told at the time when they just started dating."
Ultimately, Griffiths believed that Markle's alleged goals were to bag a prince and move with him to the US. She explained, "She [Markle] was never going to go and do the ribbon cutting. That's the bread and butter of the royal family. She was going to go to California and be a star…And she wanted the fame." Whether a carefully hatched plan or an impromptu decision to escape the relentless press, one thing is for sure: the Sussexes do not seem to be looking back on their life in the UK.
