Meghan Markle’s latest hosting move has a surprising similarity to something this Middleton has been known for, too.
Meghan Markle has recently shared hosting advice through her lifestyle brand, As Ever, in a social media post. However, her latest move bears a striking resemblance to Princess Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, who has been known for offering similar advice in the past.
The Middletons have plenty of experience when it comes to throwing a good party. Kate’s family once owned a party supplies business, while Pippa Middleton, now Pippa Matthews, took things a step further by publishing Celebrate: A Year of British Festivities for Families and Friends, a book packed with tips on entertaining.
Markle now appears to be stepping into that territory, with her lifestyle brand and shared one of her go-to hosting tips on Instagram. In the caption of the post, she wrote, “Have as much prepped as possible before guests arrive, then save one simple task for the end. Something you can finish in the kitchen while everyone settles in. A little preparation goes a long way toward making hosting feel effortless.”
Meghan's advice may sound like common sense to seasoned hosts, but simple pointers can still help anyone new to entertaining. Pippa Middleton took a similarly practical approach in her 2012 book, suggesting readers put away valuable breakables, clear out extra furniture, decide where guests should leave their coats and ask children to take off their shoes. She also recommended keeping children's parties to two hours, with parents welcome to stay for a cup of tea or a glass of Prosecco before the party bags came out.
Pippa knew some found her advice a little too obvious. In a column for The Spectator (via Hello!), she acknowledged that several journalists had questioned how useful her tips really were. Markle faced similar criticism when With Love, Meghan debuted on Netflix, where, over two seasons, she welcomed celebrity guests into her home and shared lifestyle tips.
While Markle has been low-key since settling back in the UK, she has still been spotted out with comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia Rossi. Meanwhile, her close friend Kelly McKee Zajfen has also shared glimpses of the Sussexes’ life in Britain on Instagram. According to a source, she is “deliberately biding her time and staying out of sight intentionally,” but she also has “plenty of things keeping her busy.”
