Meghan Markle Eyes New Career Path With Archie & Lilibet — but Harry Fears Major Consequences
Meghan Markle's contemplation to formally release a photo of Prince Archie on his birthday has Prince Harry worried about his son's privacy.
Ahead of Prince Archie's birthday on May 6, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are allegedly locked in a tug of war over their children's privacy. Sources claim that Markle wants to follow royal tradition and share an official portrait of her son, much to her husband's dismay. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly eyeing a career as a 'mommy influencer,' by documenting Archie and Princess Lilibet's life, a move the Duke fears could have catastrophic consequences on their privacy.
Speaking to Woman's Day, a royal insider revealed that Prince Louis's recent birthday portrait has allegedly sparked a different reaction from Markle, who wishes to follow the same for Archie. But her decision is not sitting well with Harry. They said, "It's an ongoing tug of war for the Sussexes over how much of Archie and Lilibet's lives should remain private. It's hard for Meghan to see her kids' cousins have all the fun while her two have to be protected at all costs because of security." They asserted that the Duke's main concern, however, was his wife potentially using Archie and Lilibet for her personal branding, which he reportedly thinks is a 'dangerous game.'
Harry's alleged concern is said to have increased after Markle named two $89 candles on her As Ever website in honor of Archie and Lilibet. Royal expert Tom Sykes argued that she is now looking to enter the 'mumfluencer' space, using her children's lives to propel her lifestyle brand. He said, "Let’s face it, the lifestyle influencer space hasn't really worked, but the mummy influencer space seems to be really opening up for her [Markle] now, and what she is leaning into." Her dream reportedly has Harry on his toes and fearing that his children could lose their titles if she keeps monetizing their royal status.
Chiming in with his thoughts, royal expert Tom Bower cautioned that Markle's move could have detrimental consequences on Archie and Lilibet's lives. He warned, "It was quite clear the whole thing was to monetize the royal family, and they [the Sussexes] wanted the children [Archie and Lilibet] to be on the same level as Kate and William's children. That's Meghan's obsession – that Archie should be the same as George." He continued, "Meghan would just be commercializing herself and selling all her clothes and validating herself as a member of the family, and that would be, in my view, catastrophic."
Previously, an insider also weighed in on the Sussexes' alleged quandary over Archie's birthday, telling New Idea, "This isn't the first time this conflict has come up – and there are times it's been Meghan holding Harry back from showing off pictures of their kids. Meghan thinks it's the perfect time to release a formal set of pictures of Archie for his birthday – especially now her Archie candle's been released." The candle in question is named Signature Candle No. 506 in tribute to her son's birthday.
