Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Recreate Their Most Iconic Aussie Memory as Newlyweds — 7 Years On
Seven years back, the couple visited Sydney Harbor together for the first time, and now they are back to the same spot.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are revisiting Australia for the first time in 2026 since their 2018 official royal tour, and while a lot has changed over the years, the duo seems to be equally in awe of the country as they were years ago. Seven years back, the couple visited Sydney Harbour together for the first time, and now they are back to the same spot with members of the Invictus Games.
Harry and Markle’s 2018 Australian tour was their first official tour as a married couple and also their most successful endeavor. In an attempt to retain their glory and tap into their lost eminence, the couple found themselves back in the same place seven years later, recreating their iconic Sydney Harbour moment. On day four of their quasi-royal trip to Australia on April 17, the couple visited Bondi Beach to honor the volunteers of the surf rescue operation who played an integral role in protecting beachgoers and saving lives during the December 14, 2025, terrorist attack.
Soon after their sessions with the volunteers of the Bondi Surf Bathers' Life Saving Club in Sydney and looking through the artifacts curated for an upcoming exhibition based on the attack, the duo was escorted to Sydney Harbour by the NSW police. The couple then met several locals at the beach, shaking hands, clicking selfies, and even dancing with the kids. Later, they set sail on the Sydney Harbour with members of Invictus Australia.
The photos of Harry and Markle on the Sydney Harbour, looking relaxed and happy, took us back in time when, in 2018, they were sailing on the same cruise for their debut foreign royal tour. At that time, Markle was pregnant with Prince Archie, and the couple had only announced their pregnancy on the tour, sending their fans into a frenzy. Talking about the couple's return to Australia and to Sydney Harbour, the chief executive of Invictus Australia, Michael Hartung, shared with the Mirror, "Having the Duke and Duchess return to Sydney Harbour, where sailing first joined the Invictus movement, is a full-circle moment."
He continued, "It's a chance to show that Invictus in Australia isn't just a biannual event—it's a daily, grassroots movement. By the end of 2026, we will have supported over 30,000 veterans and their families through community-based sport." Harry and Markle are on the last leg of their Australian tour, with just a day remaining before the Duchess heads for her high-profile women-only 'Her Best Life' retreat at the InterContinental Sydney.
In the past seven years, since Harry and Markle's two Australian tours, a lot has changed, but the duo is seemingly still loved by the Aussies. The country will always remain special to them, and it's only a matter of time before they plan to return again. Until then, the couple has one more day in which they plan to attend a Super Rugby match between the NSW Waratahs and Moana Pasifika at Allianz Stadium, as revealed by their official itinerary.
