Meghan Could’ve Skipped Her Pregnancy Dance if She'd Taken the Queen’s Cheeky Advice: ‘She Told...'

On July 4, Meghan Markle shared a never-before-seen video of herself twerking with Prince Harry in a hospital delivery room, hoping to induce labor with their daughter. The Duchess posted the clip on Instagram as a tribute to Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday. While the video sent shockwaves for being 'unroyal', the dance could have been avoided if Markle had just followed the advice of the late Queen Elizabeth. As Harry revealed in his memoir, Spare, the Queen had once advised his wife that the best way to kickstart labor was a good old-fashioned 'bumpy car ride'.

Markle, in her caption, had revealed, "Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work, there was only one thing left to do!" So it seems, Markle forgot the late Queen's witty words of wisdom shared during their journey on the royal train for their first-ever royal engagement. As reported by Hello! magazine, Harry wrote in Spare, "She returned from the trip glowing. 'We bonded,' she told me.' ...We talked about how much I wanted to be a mom, and she told me the best way to induce labor was a good bumpy car ride! I told her I'd remember that when the time came."

Back in March 2018, just two months before her wedding to Harry, Markle joined the late Queen for her first official engagement, a service at Westminster Abbey to celebrate Commonwealth Day. Later, the pair were seen enjoying each other’s company during a visit to open the new Mersey Gateway Bridge. They also toured the Storyhouse Theatre and shared lunch at Chester Town Hall. Although, as per Harry's Spare, Markle was initially 'nervous' about the meeting with the Queen, the two reportedly bonded over a shared love of dogs and motherhood.

Markle also once opened up about the fond memories of her first engagement with the Queen. As per Elle magazine, in her infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey, she revealed that after the tour, the Queen gifted her a set of beautiful pearl earrings and a matching necklace. Calling the late monarch an 'incredible woman', she added, "We were in the car going between engagements. And she has a blanket that sits across her, her knees, for warmth, and it was chilly, and she was like, Meghan, come on, and put it over my knees as well."
Coming back to Markle's pregnant dance video, Harry recounted in Spare that there was "nothing but joy in that hospital room." He penned, "We ate and ate and then did The Baby Mama Dance around the hospital room." He spilled that they hogged on In-N-Out and fajitas before Lilibet’s birth. As for their relationship with the late Queen, the Sussexes' bond with her is said to have soured tremendously after they stepped down as senior royals in 2020.
