After a week of speculation and rumour-swapping, Kris Jenner may have shown where she really stands with Meghan Markle. And she did it in the sort of strategic, understated way only the Jenners manage so effortlessly. The timing was only conspicuous as her move came just as online chatter was peaking over why she had deleted a photo of the Duke and Duchess from her social media. The whole thing began earlier this month at Jenner’s opulent and grand James Bond-themed 70th birthday celebration. Photos from the night briefly included Harry and Meghan mingling with guests, only for those images to disappear soon after from both Kris and Kim Kardashian’s feeds. The sudden vanishing act sent the internet into detective mode, fuelling talk of miscommunication, tension, or even a simmering celebrity stand-off.

Then came Meghan’s big week. The Duchess rolled out the trailer for her Netflix Christmas special and revealed her Harper’s Bazaar cover, two major drops in quick succession. Kris responded by reposting Meghan’s trailer and the Harper’s Bazaar clips, and even liking the Duchess’s uploads, on her Instagram account. It was a public nod that suggested things were fine, or at least far less dramatic than the theories circulating online.

If Kris was annoyed, she didn’t show it. Her support for Meghan’s projects felt like a statement, especially since they are known for carefully curating their social media and making a living from it. And it was one that many interpreted as a soft reset after the deleted-photo buzz. Still, the story refused to settle. Fans later noticed that the repost initially seen on Kris’s profile had quietly disappeared as well, giving the speculation another nudge.

Before any of these reposts and 'un-reposts,' though, insiders claimed the party night had already hit a snag. Rob Shuter on Substack reported that the photos of Harry and Meghan didn’t vanish by accident; they were taken down at the request of Markle’s team. According to a source, they had asked both Kris and Kim to remove the images shortly after they were posted. But for Kim, this was a problem. As one Hollywood insider put it, “Kim doesn’t do take-backs.” In her world, once you’re in a Kardashian frame, you’re part of the production. So the request to pull the photos reportedly didn’t sit well and left her more than a little irritated.

And there was more. Producers had apparently asked Markle to film a short greeting for The Kardashians on Hulu, a routine, almost ceremonial thing for high-profile guests. She declined. The refusal was described as “polite but icy,” but it landed badly on Kim’s side. An insider, summing up the mood, said she felt Meghan acted “like Buckingham Palace had arrived — and that goes down badly in Calabasas.” Against that backdrop, Kris’s later gesture of support felt even more pointed. Whether it was an attempt to smooth over tensions, distance herself from the drama, or simply signal goodwill toward Meghan, her actions added a fresh layer to a saga that began with a disappearing photo.
