King Charles will reportedly bestow Prince William and Princess Kate with new roles in 2026. This comes as no surprise, as in recent years, in light of Charles' declining health, the Prince and Princess of Wales have stepped up to take on more duties. To formally recognize their efforts, William and Kate are expected to assume the role of Grantors of Royal Warrants, scheduled to come into effect in spring 2026. The title will give the couple authority to officially endorse brands and businesses they personally use and support.

A Royal Warrant is a recognition that signals a service or product is preferred by the royal household. The appointment will give William and Kate a good influence on how the Firm interacts with and supports British craftsmanship and commerce. Their press secretary, Ian Patrick, confirmed the news to Town & Country and said, "Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to be able to recognize and celebrate British industry, creativity, and skills through the granting of Warrants."

As per the Royal Warrants Holder Association, a warrant may be granted to a company or an individual if they have supplied the royal household “with goods or services for at least five years out of the past seven years, and have an ongoing trading relationship.” Once issued, the warrant allows the recipients “the right to display the appropriate Royal Arms on their product, packaging, stationery, advertising, premises, and vehicles” for a period of five years. This distinction is viewed as a major commercial advantage and a symbol of royal trust. And for the Prince and Princess of Wales, who are deeply passionate about the environment, children's welfare, health, and other causes, the honor is something they have been waiting for to support brands that align with their causes.

Before marrying William, the Princess played a hands-on role in her family’s business, Party Pieces. Her mother shared in an interview with Good Housekeeping, “Catherine started the First Birthday brand – she chose the products and looked after all the imagery and the catalogue production.” More recently, in September 2025, she stepped out on a high-profile solo visit to heritage mills to highlight British craftsmanship. Not to forget, the ‘Kate Effect,’ arguably the most powerful commercial force in the UK? Given the Princess’s influence on consumer trends and how any outfit she wears immediately sells out, the new role is expected to carry particular weight in fashion.

As reported by She Finds, author Elizabeth Holmes said that by assuming the new role, Kate will make this tradition feel more relevant and fresh to younger people. “I think the Princess now being able to grant royal warrants will introduce this honor in a new way to a new generation of royal watchers,” she opined. Not just that, she will also make history by becoming the first Princess of Wales to grant Royal Warrants in 116 years. Even her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, never held the role. The last Princess of Wales to do so was Queen Mary before 1910.

Charles and Queen Camilla already serve as Grantors of Royal Warrants. Since the monarch ascended the throne, he and the Queen Consort have awarded warrants to about 600 brands, which include Cartier, Schweppes, Waitrose, and Camel Valley, to name a few.
