King Charles had an extremely successful royal visit to the United States, and it is safe to say he is basking in all the glory. Past scandals, including the one involving ex-Prince Andrew, have shrouded the Firm in controversy. However, Charles’ latest move sends a clear message that he will not let his brother’s behavior get in the way of his reign.
Charles reportedly spent some quiet time at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate. It is the very home Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor had only recently moved out of. However, the visit caught attention because of the fact that the disgraced Prince was living just a field away in his new residence, yet the brothers seemingly never met. The move has only fueled speculation that the King is continuing to keep a firm distance from his brother as he works to protect the monarchy’s image. The King was seen at St. Mary Magdalene's Church on March 1, attending Sunday service, but despite being just a short distance away from Mountbatten-Windsor, he reportedly avoided seeing his disgraced brother altogether.
Daily Mail notes that even though Charles was staying at Wood Farm and Mountbatten-Windsor was less than half a mile away, the distance between the two brothers now feels far bigger than that. The monarch continues to enrich his role as King, rubbing shoulders with world leaders and royals, including Donald Trump, during his widely praised US visit.
Meanwhile, the former Duke remains buried under the fallout from his Epstein scandal, stripped of royal duties and privileges while still being investigated over alleged misconduct in public office. Given his situation, Prince Edward is apparently worried about his mental health.
According to royal insiders, one thing still seems to deeply frustrate Mountbatten-Windsor: the fact that Royal Lodge in Windsor has reportedly remained empty months after he was pushed to leave the property in February. Sources claimed he feels his exit was rushed and unnecessary, especially since no one has moved into the sprawling residence since his departure.
A source said, “From his perspective, it was all done to appease the baying media and didn't need to be carried out in such a rush before his new accommodation at Marsh Farm was ready. The fact that no one else had taken occupancy of Royal Lodge is proof of that.” They continue, “Now the King is really rubbing salt into the wounds by continuing to blank Andrew, even though he's currently staying about a 10-minute walk away across farm tracks.”
Mountbatten-Windsor faced immense scrutiny when his past friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced. He was also accused of s*xually assaulting a minor, Virginia Giuffre, although he has consistently denied the allegations. His situation became messier when he was arrested following the release of new Epstein files on February 19. He was questioned over allegations that he shared sensitive information with the convict while serving as a UK trade envoy.
