King Charles’ Next State Visits Revealed Following US and Bermuda Success
After a successful U.S. trip, King Charles is now looking ahead, with fresh plans in the works to shape his reign.
King Charles’ U.S. trip was undoubtedly successful, but that is not all he wants to be known for. After making several key appearances across the country, including delivering a historic speech to the members of Congress, he already has plans for the year ahead.
Not just the United States, but the King also made a stop at one of the overseas territories, Bermuda. His visit was a notable one, marking the first time a monarch had been there in around 16–17 years, with the last visit by Queen Elizabeth II back in 2009. He’s essentially been ticking off a kind of “list of firsts,” from visiting a Commonwealth country and a Realm to stopping in an Overseas Territory and attending a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. With those milestones now done, the focus is expected to shift to what comes next and how he builds on it.
Now, Charles and his senior aides are expected to map out a new plan built around his core values, shaping how the monarchy moves forward both at home and abroad. As per The Mirror, a senior royal aide said, “He is not a man to dwell long on what some may consider yesterday's successes; he is always looking towards tomorrow's opportunities.” They continued, “...his mind is already on what he can achieve next, rather than what he achieved this week.”
The King is expected to head to Antigua and Barbuda this autumn, where he will once again take on a key role at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in his position as head of the Commonwealth of Nations. The Caribbean setting for CHOGM gives Charles another chance to highlight the importance of working closely with countries that share long-standing ties with Britain. Five Cs stands for community, climate, culture, Commonwealth, and Cancer, which is a framework that Charles tends to follow.
He will keep building on these pillars as he shapes the next phase of his reign. Royal aides say the U.S. tour was planned around key themes like the economy, culture, and people, keeping it closely in line with the monarch’s values. During the King’s speech at the U.S. Capitol, along with a few jokes, he touched on some of the major topics. He reminded Congress that the United States was founded on the principle that executive power should be kept in check through balances and accountability. He also strongly backed NATO, voiced support for Ukraine, and spoke about the importance of protecting the environment.
He also spoke of the long-standing friendship between the U.S. and the U.K., saying, “The story of the United Kingdom and the United States is, at its heart, a story of reconciliation, renewal, and remarkable partnership.” He continued, “From the bitter divisions of 250 years ago, we forged a friendship that has grown into one of the most consequential alliances in human history.” Donald Trump admitted that he was ‘jealous’ of the speech while joking about republicans standing up to clap for the King.
