King Charles’ Harlem Stop Gets an Unexpected Reaction from the Crowd [Video]
A spontaneous moment in NYC reveals the real impact of King Charles’s Congress speech as one voice cuts through the crowd.
King Charles is on day 3 of the ongoing U.S. trip, and after the lavish dinner at the White House, he visited the after-school farming program Harlem Grown in New York City. However, while he was shaking hands with the locals of the area, a woman’s statement to the King instantly stood out.
Charles arrived in Harlem on April 29, and he was welcomed by the kids in the program when he got there. He spent just under an hour there, getting a feel for Harlem Grown and seeing how their urban farming setup works. After wrapping up his visit, Charles stepped back out into the neighborhood where a small crowd had gathered to see him. As he moved along, greeting people, shaking hands, and exchanging a few quick words, one woman called out to him from the crowd. That’s when she thanked him for his speech to Congress, telling him, “Thank you for your speech to Congress. We needed that.” Watch The Video Here
During his address to Congress, Charles covered a lot of ground, but one point that really landed was his reminder that the United States was founded on the idea that executive power should be checked through balance and accountability. That line drew applause from both Democrats and Republicans. He also made his stance clear on global issues, strongly backing NATO, voicing support for Ukraine, and highlighting the ongoing importance of protecting the environment.
“United States Armed Forces and its allies lie at the heart of Nato, pledged to each other's defence, protecting our citizens and interests, keeping North Americans and Europeans safe from our common adversaries,” the King said. The speech was so well-received by the room that even Trump admitted to being “jealous” and added that even he was not able to make the Democrats stand.
At the Harlem Grown program, the King did not just observe but was also hands-on with various activities. He joined in, chatting with the students and even helping out with feeding the chickens. During his short time there, a sweet moment was captured where the monarch was sharing his lettuce leaves with two little girls while feeding the chickens. Watch the video here.
Before heading uptown, Charles started his time in New York on a more serious note, stopping by the 9/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan to pay his respects. He took part in wreath-laying, spent time with families and first responders, and honored those who lost their lives, an especially meaningful moment as the city nears the 25th anniversary. The four-day trip will wrap up in Virginia, where he is expected to attend a block party celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
