Kensington Palace Shares New Photos of Kate and William—And It's Their Dreamiest Yet

William and Kate really have a way of reminding us why they’re the monarchy’s ultimate duo. After a three-year break, the future king and queen attended the BAFTA Awards on February 22, cementing their power couple status. While the formal walk-in was great, the real magic happened behind the scenes. Andrew Parsons caught a candid black-and-white shot of them laughing in an elevator that basically melted the internet. Kensington Palace eventually shared the photos, and they’re incredibly sweet.

In one, William is just looking at Kate with total admiration; in the next, she’s beaming right back at him. Parsons also caught a quiet moment of William resting a hand on Kate’s back as they arrived. It’s a big return for them, especially since William had to go solo in 2024 while Kate was navigating her cancer treatment. This year’s appearance was a much-needed win, coming just three days after the news broke about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest at Sandringham.

The night wasn't without its heavy moments, though. Perhaps the highlight of their appearance came when William boldly accepted that the week had been hard on him, a reference to the ongoing crisis engulfing the royal family. Commenting on the movie Hamnet on the red carpet, which the Prince hasn't seen yet, he confessed, "I need to be in quite a calm state, and I am not at the moment. I will save it." But he did spill the tea that Kate cried during the movie. Unfortunately, they were also heckled at the event about Mountbatten-Windsor when an attendee shouted, "Is the Monarchy in peril?" Regardless, the couple stayed calm and followed the monarchy's favorite 'never complain, never explain' mantra.

And of course, we have to talk about the outfits—they were a total mood. Kate went with a soft, romantic Gucci gown in pink that looked incredible with her hair. But the real Easter egg was tucked under her curls: the Greville Chandelier earrings. They belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth, making the whole look feel like a beautiful tribute. William held his own, too, looking sharp in a burgundy suit that perfectly complemented Kate’s style.

Just when you thought William and Middleton's BAFTA black and white photo was their best yet, another similar photo from the US state banquet dinner could give it a run for its money! In yet another behind-the-scenes moment, William and Middleton were snapped lovingly holding hands outside Windsor Castle. Technically, that’s a break from the old "no PDA" protocol, but seeing them lean into a little flirtation while representing the Crown just makes them feel more real.
