Insider Reveals Why Harry and Meghan Are ‘Desperate’ to 'Trigger a Truce' with Kate: 'Her Image...'
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have quit the royal fold, but they are reportedly eager to connect with Kate Middleton for a valid reason.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who left the royal fold in 2020, are reportedly 'desperate' to reconnect with Kate Middleton. Harry, who last saw Middleton during King Charles’ coronation in May 2023, has not met her since despite her health scare. According to a royal source, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now making a desperate effort to ‘trigger a truce’ with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
As per The New York Times, the source revealed that Markle and Harry have messaged Middleton after she announced her cancer diagnosis in March. The insider claimed, “Meghan’s desperate to come across as the bigger person and end this feud between them — appearing like some sort of royal savior could only do her image good.” They added, “When Kate gets back into action, their hope is that it might take some of the heat off them and possibly trigger a truce with her and William, and with the King, too.”
The outlet also reports that Harry only saw his father, Charles, once in February 2024. He did not meet any of his other family members during his three-day trip to London last May or recently on April 8-9, when he arrived home for his court hearing. After Middleton came under fire for editing her picture for a 2024 Mother’s Day post, Harry allegedly asked Markle to ‘reach out’ to her. An insider told OK! magazine, “Harry thinks it might be the perfect time for Meghan to reach out to Kate because she knows what it’s like to come under fire from the public and the press.” They added, “Harry wants his family to return to the UK, and he knows that the only way that will happen is if Meghan can repair her fractured relationship with Kate.”
The Princess of Wales announced her battle with cancer on March 22, last year. However, Kensington Palace didn't reveal what type of cancer it was. As reported by The Irish Star, the Sussexes' get-well-soon message for her read, “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.” However, the thoughtful gesture reportedly backfired and left Prince William ‘furious’. A friend of the Waleses told The Daily Beast, “William takes offence at people calling Catherine ‘Kate,’ because she has asked to be known as Catherine...I’m sure Meghan wouldn’t like it if William started publicly calling her ‘Meghan Markle’ ...Those of us who know William understand that it is one of the things that pushes his buttons.”
An insider also told the outlet that Harry sent a 'secret message' of goodwill following Middleton's first solo appearance post-treatment. The source claimed, “He's just so grateful that she's on the mend and able to get back to her duties after taking time off, as is Meghan.” The Waleses and the Sussexes, who were last seen together at Queen Elizabeth’s memorial in September 2022, are reportedly not on speaking terms.
