Expert Questions the Reality of Meghan’s ‘Empire’ Amid Constant Travel: ‘What Does She Really Do?’
Critics have raised questions about Meghan Markle's involvement in developing her products, suggesting they may be largely outsourced.
After bidding adieu to royal life, Meghan Markle carved out a new identity as a savvy businesswoman, launching her lifestyle brand, As Ever. Many of its products, including jams, scented candles, and flower sprinkles, have quickly flown off the shelves upon their release. Yet critics question how involved the Duchess is in developing the products, suggesting they may be outsourced to ease her burden. Among them is royal commentator Neil Sean, who argued that her frequent business trips with Prince Harry raise doubts about how hands-on she truly is.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Neil Sean's Daily News Headlines, the expert pointed out that Markle has had free time on her hands due to her many international visits. He said, "She [Markle] claims she's running an empire. If you're running an empire, I know many ladies who run big companies; they can't just take off masses of time, they are on it daily, particularly when it's a very burgeoning empire at the start of the journey." He added, "Think about it. Meghan Markle's wandered off to the Middle East, just as, of course, the Netflix stuff was coming to a boil," probably referring to the end of her lifestyle brand's partnership with the streaming giant.
Arguing his point, Sean mentioned Markle's upcoming Australia trip with Harry, which will take place just two months after she visited Jordan. He questioned, "How much input does she [Markle] genuinely have in the jams, the candles, you know? Is it all truly outsourced? What does she really do? And why then does she bother lying to people by having pots of jam in her stove, with her stirring it the wrong way? ... It's just all a complete facade." The Sussexes had announced their plans to visit Australia in mid-April for a series of business and philanthropic engagements.
On the topic of the Sussexes' upcoming trip, the royal commentator also criticized Harry's decision to speak about mental health at the InterEdge Psychosocial Safety Summit in Melbourne, with ticket prices ranging from $2,378. He stressed, "He's [Harry] just a person who went through some trauma and was offered a lot of assistance despite what he says on camera. According to excellent sources, and again, I have to say, allegedly, His Majesty the King tried his very best with various things along the way, and William would testify to this." Alluding to the fact that the Duke was 'playing the victim,' he continued, "Suddenly, Harry, of course, has found a calling card…It's very lucrative."
As for her lifestyle brand, on March 6, reports claimed that the Duchess of Sussex had ended her partnership with Netflix. According to a report by The Sun, she cut ties with the streaming giant over fears that As Ever's growth was being stifled. An insider clarified that although Netflix had been an excellent partner, "She's [Markle] wanted to go global with the brand for some time, but has been held back by the more cautious Netflix team."
