Meghan Markle is known to recreate Princess Diana's most iconic looks. A Diana-inspired collage on X has reignited debate around Markle’s style. Weighing in on the same, a fashion expert has argued that the Duchess deliberately invites comparisons to her late mother-in-law for public impact, and not because she is Prince Harry's mother.

As per the Express, Rebecca, who runs the influential @Remisagoodboy account on X, focused on royal fashion, said, “I do believe this is intentional as Meghan wants these comparisons to be made.” She believes the parallels are intentional more than coincidental, as Markle’s strategy seems aimed at visibility and media attention. She slammed, “Unfortunately, I believe that Meghan always looks to others for style. As we know, it isn’t just Diana or Princess Catherine. At different periods of her life, Meghan seems to rely heavily on the style and taste of those in her world or those she admires.”

Rebecca claimed that Markle’s fashion influences have constantly changed depending on who is closest to her at various stages of her life. Shedding light on her pre-royal years, the expert continued, “I have noticed that during Meghan’s days in Toronto, a lot of her looks mimicked her then close friend Jessica Mulroney. Over the past year or two, I now see Meghan is mirroring a lot of clothing and even the hairstyle of friend Kelly McKee Zajfen.” The commentator ultimately claimed that Diana would always be the most symbolically powerful and intended reference point for Markle.

While acknowledging that fashion is inherently cynical and that royal dressing has always carried layered meanings, Rebecca argues that Markle’s fashion sense goes far beyond merely tipping her hat to Diana. “Meghan seems to take it to a much different level. From her mirrored body language, to certain color combinations or choice in accessories,” she said. She added, “Let’s not forget the old adage ‘Bad Press is still Press’ and moves like these keep her [Markle] in the press and a hot topic on social media.”

Despite these comparisons bringing in short-term attention, the expert warned about their long-term impact. She feels it could undermine Markle’s credibility as a fashion figure. “I have read that Meghan wants to establish herself as a prominent figure in the fashion world, but to do so, she really needs to figure out who she is first and foremost.” She insisted Markle is successful in making an impact fashion-wise when she leans more towards authenticity and steers away from symbolism. The expert concluded, “I think her style should reflect who she is: A mother of two, a businesswoman, and, whether people like it or not, a celebrity. She should lean into the California designers that she enjoys and sometimes showcases, but she does need to introduce a little more color into her wardrobe.”
