Donald Trump has been quite vocal about his admiration for the British monarchy, but a new biography has revealed just how deep that reverence goes. In his book Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. The Inside Story, royal author Robert Hardman wrote that the US president has reserved a singular place of honor for the late Queen Elizabeth, located within the walls of his Mar-a-Lago estate. Painted by Polish-British artist Basia Kaczmarowska-Hamilton, the artwork in question is a reproduction of the final official portrait of the monarch, who sat for it just four months before her passing in September 2022.

While the original remains secured in the private collection at Windsor Castle, Hardman reported that an additional reproduction was gifted to Trump by the artist herself. What has also caught the attention of royal watchers is the placement of the artwork at the president's estate, a choice that is reportedly a matter of intentional design. The painting now hangs in the dining room of the Florida club, positioned right above a depiction of a medieval ship, according to the royal author. By choosing this specific location, Trump highlighted his intent to elevate the late Queen above every other figure in his personal gallery. “She was so great. I wanted to hang her picture in a room where there is no one else on the wall,” he told Hardman, emphasizing his wish for Queen Elizabeth to be the sole focal point of the space.

Former White House Russia advisor Fiona also noted Trump’s ‘awestruck’ perspective in her 2021 memoir, There Is Nothing For You Here: Finding Opportunity in the 21st Century, suggesting that the US president considered his bond with the late Queen as the ultimate maker of his personal and political success. Following her passing in 2022, he released a moving tribute, sharing, “What a grand and beautiful lady she was—there was nobody like her!” Promising that he would never forget her “generous friendship, great wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor,” Trump went on to say that he and his wife, Melania Trump, will always cherish the moments they shared with the late monarch.

The US president's deep admiration for Queen Elizabeth has remained a cornerstone of his personal brand. For instance, during his second state visit to the UK in September 2025, he traveled to St. George’s Chapel to pay his respects at the late sovereign’s final resting place—a moment he later described as a ‘great honor.’ Despite Trump’s public praise, however, various accounts suggest that the mutual respect he describes may not have been entirely reciprocal. According to Craig Brown’s 2024 biography, titled A Voyage Around the Queen, the monarch found the president's social graces lacking, stating that she allegedly found him ‘very rude’ for constantly “looking over her shoulder.”

With the political landscape in a constant flux, all eyes are now turning toward how the ‘special relationship’ will evolve under the leadership of King Charles, who is all set to embark on his state visit to the US later this month to bridge the ongoing differences between the two nations.
