‘Copy, Paste, Repeat’: Meghan Markle Slammed for Upstaging King Charles with Her Latest Video
Meghan Markle posted a clip with her daughter in a chicken coop hours after King Charles was seen feeding chickens during a community visit.
After Meghan Markle joined Instagram last year, public scrutiny intensified, with online sleuths dissecting her every post. Most recently, the Duchess of Sussex faced criticism over a May 1 video shared on her As Ever account, showing her and her daughter, Princess Lilibet, collecting eggs in a chicken coop. Interestingly, the clip appeared just hours after King Charles's community visit to Harlem Grown, where he fed chickens, prompting fans to accuse her of trying to upstage him.
In a video shared on As Ever's Instagram, Lilibet made a surprise appearance inside the chicken coop nicknamed 'Archie's Chick Inn.' She can be heard calling out, "Mum, I got another gray one!" as Markle replied, "Thanks, sweetheart!" It captured their low-key private life in their Montecito mansion, although Prince Archie was absent from the clip. On the other side of the country, the King was seen feeding chickens, highlighting his long-standing interest in sustainability and urban agriculture. His impactful visit focused on community-led farming initiatives that provide fresh produce and education to residents. He also observed children participating in farming and irrigation. After fans caught wind of the uncanny resemblance, they took to X to point out what they thought was the obvious. A netizen scoffed, "King Charles III was with children at the Harlem Grown programme, feeding chickens kept on-site and engaging with them…Meghan released a video of herself with her business partner, also feeding chickens. How ridiculous is this cosplaying getting!?" In a similar vein, another remarked, "Speaking about authenticity & creativity!? Cosplaying & copying others in events and real life." Meanwhile, a royal watcher criticized, "All #Meghan knows how to do is copy, paste, repeat. The actual BRF does excellence in all they do." As the comments poured in, another reasoned, "A bit ridiculous for you to amplify her vids."
Unsurprisingly, this isn't the first time that the Duchess has been accused of copying the King. Social media sleuths have also highlighted that Markle's lifestyle brand's name, As Ever, happens to be the signature hallmark of Charles's personal correspondence for decades. When he was the Prince of Wales, he consistently used 'As Ever' and 'Yours Ever' when writing letters to his close circle. This noticeable overlap has led royal watchers to accuse Markle of copying Charles to propel her commercial ventures and boost her relationship with Netflix, but to no avail.
