Charles and Camilla Look Incredible Together as They Arrive at RHS Sandringham Flower Show
King Charles and Queen Camilla toured the grounds and visited unique flower exhibits while attending the Sandringham Flower Show.
King Charles and Queen Camilla beat the heatwave with their impeccable style and grand arrival at the RHS Sandringham Flower Show. Their Majesties arrived in a horse-drawn carriage for the opening day of the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) event on the Sandringham Estate, much to the delight of royal fans. As reported by the BBC, the multi-day event was hosted at the monarch's private Norfolk estate for the very first time. The King, who has served as patron of the RHS since 2024, appeared in high spirits alongside the Queen as they personally greeted guests and visitors on the grounds. The Royal Family's official Instagram later shared highlights from the memorable day.
According to The Independent, King Charles and Queen Camilla toured the grounds and visited unique flower exhibits while chatting with garden designer Catherine MacDonald. They also presided over an award ceremony celebrating the various displays. Queen Camilla presented the Queen’s Special Award for Upcycled Container Gardens to a bee-themed exhibit by Ingoldisthorpe Church of England Primary School. The display, named The Queen Bee, features upcycled containers and tin-can bees. She praised the creation, calling it "absolutely charming" and adding, "A lot of hard work went into that."
The royal couple looked stunning in their summer attire; the King wore a beige suit paired with a walking stick and accessorized with an RHS logo pin. The Queen preferred to keep it simple, wearing a simple, patterned green-and-white dress. During their walkabout, one man told the King, "I’m the same age as you," to which the monarch replied with his cheeky sense of humor, "It gets much worse, doesn’t it?"
The King also awarded the Best Exhibit in the Floral Marquee Award, represented by a wooden plaque and glass trophy, to Colin and Esta Jones of Roualeyn Fuchsias from Trefriw, North Wales. During a subsequent walkabout, the King indulged in a lively conversation with a group of schoolchildren and inquired about their vegetable-growing practices, learning that they cultivated tomatoes and herbs. In a witty remark, the monarch then asked the group whether they ever ate greens. When the reply came back as "no," King Charles quipped, "Have you tried spinach? It’s the best thing in the world." He then went on to wish them "a very nice holidays."
The Sandringham Flower Show, established in 1881, will take place from July 22 to 26 this year, with future events planned for 2027, 2028, and 2029. It is managed by a trust comprising a committee of volunteers. It has been reported that the RHS Flower Show has replaced the annual Sandringham Flower Show after the estate agreed the RHS could arrange a horticultural show once every three years at the royal estate.
