Charity Linked to Eugenie Breaks Silence on Epstein Scandal — and It’s Not Good News For Her
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has not only damaged his public standing but also, by extension, his daughters, who, despite no fault of their own, continue to get dragged into his controversies. Ever since the US Department of Justice released the latest tranche of 3 million Epstein files, Princess Beatrice and Prince Eugenie have again found themselves under the looming shadow of their father’s past ties, which is now even damaging the causes they deeply believe in. This time, it is Eugenie who is under the microscope like never before, with one charity central to her identity releasing a pointed statement.
The Salvation Army, an organization that has long been associated with Princess Eugenie in her fight against modern slavery, has broken its silence as fresh revelations regarding the former Duke of York’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein continue to surface. Speaking to the BBC, a spokesperson for the organization addressed the situation, observing, “We place victims and survivors at the heart of all our decision-making, and we are closely monitoring this story.” While the statement steered clear of mentioning Eugenie directly, their messaging was clear that her family associations are being assessed carefully.
Princess Eugenie has long championed human trafficking issues, which also pushed her to co-found The Anti-Slavery Collective in 2017 alongside her good friend Julia de Boinville. Her longstanding association with The Salvation Army saw her working in safe houses and survivor rehabilitation centers with a more hands-on approach. However, the tides have turned now. The charity’s recent statement suggests that its primary loyalty lies with the survivors of abuse—a decision that noticeably distances the organization from the Princess and the ‘toxic’ York brand.
Despite the mounting public pressure, experts suggest that Eugenie is caught in an impossible emotional bind. Amid reports that the Princess was no longer on speaking terms with her father, royal commentator Richard Palmer has suggested that both Beatrice and Eugenie are determined to stay loyal to their parents despite the scrutiny. “From what I understand, they are still speaking to them and want to remain loyal to them,” he told the BBC. While they allegedly remain close in private, the expert has urged the York sisters to distance themselves from Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson publicly, adding, “They need to separate themselves publicly from their parents, otherwise [they] risk the toxicity spreading further to them.”
Eugenie might be heeding that advice, with reports suggesting she has cut all contact with her father. As reported by The Daily Mail, “There is no contact at all, nothing… she has completely cut him off.” Friends of the 35-year-old have also added to this speculation, suggesting that the Princess is ‘frustrated’ for being dragged into her parents' scandals and being blamed for something she wasn’t even a part of. “I know that Eugenie feels like she’s being tarnished with a brush that’s not hers, that’s her father’s,” the friend told Page Six, also adding, “She’s very, very frustrated.” With more Epstein revelations possibly on the horizon, the York sisters are said to be treading carefully.
