Archie and Lilibet Head to $35K-a-Year British School Following Family’s UK Return
Archie and Lilibet are starting their next chapter of life in the UK, but their parents are feeling quite anxious.
The Sussex family made a dramatic return to the UK last week, primarily to provide a better education for the two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. It has been reported that Archie will be attending a co-educational day school instead of a boarding institution. The children were previously enrolled in a school near the Sussexes' Montecito estate. Although details regarding their current school are being kept under wraps due to major security concerns, Page Six has exclusively reported on what it will be like for the two siblings as they begin their new chapter.
The two children will attend a prestigious UK prep school fit for royalty, with annual tuition exceeding $35,000. According to the publication, the educational institution comes with plenty of modern perks, including an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, large playing fields, and AstroTurf sports pitches, alongside direct river access for boating and kayaking. The elite campus also boasts art studios, cooking rooms, science labs, a large theater, a music center with multiple practice and performance spaces, and a garden. Students are said to enjoy a gourmet dining experience consisting of diverse meals, such as falafel and slow-roasted lamb shoulder. However, the school's name has not been disclosed for privacy and security reasons.
Meanwhile, reports claim that Meghan Markle has been feeling anxious about the school runs due to the lack of proper security. "They go out as they need to go out, but it’s a gilded cage without protective security," a close friend told The Sun. "The school run is a tricky issue, and I understand they are nervous about it." Prince Harry lost a court battle regarding state-funded security entitlements for his family during visits to the UK, following the withdrawal of automatic taxpayer-funded security after he and his wife stepped down as working royals. Decisions regarding royal security are managed by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC), which operates independently under the Home Office, rather than by the prime minister, as reported by The Guardian. The Susexes paid for their own security coverage in the US; however, they have currently only been given the contact details for a police liaison officer in the UK.
Archie was born in Britain in 2019, and Lilibet was born in California in 2021. Prior to this move, they had visited the UK together only twice, including for the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022, where King Charles met his granddaughter for the first time. Reports suggest the Sussexes may have relocated to an elite estate in the Cotswolds, near King Charles and Queen Camilla's Highgrove House. They recently vacated their $14 million Montecito mansion and reportedly spent six figures on a private jet for the homecoming, landing at Birmingham Airport last Wednesday.
