Photos: How William and Kate Redefined ‘Couple Goals’ Through Coordinated Fashion

Couples who are often spotted dressing alike reveal more than their shared fashion sense. In their many years of being together, Prince William and Kate Middleton have quietly turned coordinated dressing into one of their royal signature trademarks. They have made a conscious effort to step out side by side in looks that showcase their unity, harmony, and effortless elegance. 

One of the couple’s most effortlessly coordinated appearances came during their visit to Tobermory, Scotland, in 2025. William was seen in a patterned gray blazer on top of an open white shirt. Kate’s outfit had parallels to her partner's, as she also wore a blazer, brown in color, with a denim blue shirt. Both their looks had similar styling details, consisting of open collars and stylish accessories. It gave the impression of a carefully curated yet natural couple aesthetic. The polished casualwear instantly drew comparisons with the styling of Ralph Lauren.

Shortly after they walked down the aisle, the newlywed Prince and Princess decided to take their coordinated wardrobe overseas as they visited the Calgary Stampede in Canada in 2011. Leaning into the western fashion, they showcased jeans, cowboy hats, country-inspired shirts that matched, and embellished belts. Apart from simply dressing like one another, the moment was also telling of their approach to diplomatic dressing as they respectfully embraced local culture. It became one of their most memorable style moments from their first international trip as a married couple.

The couple depicted their coordinated dressing once again when they were in Pakistan in 2019 as a part of their royal tour. As they attended a reception in Islamabad, Kate was seen in a glittering emerald green Jenny Packham gown with a matching scarf. William complimented her with his own attire, as he wore the country’s traditional attire, a sherwani, also green in color, by Naushemian. Their choice of this color was meant to subtly mirror the green featured in Pakistan’s national flag. It again reinforced the diplomatic significance behind their attire. There was also a sense of visual harmony between the two as they also mirrored their body language during the noted event. 

William and Middleton showcased their ability to coordinate yet again but also made sure they didn’t appear overly styled. Recently, during the 2026 BAFTA Awards in London, Middleton was in a flowing Gucci chiffon gown, featuring shades like purple and merlot and a velvet burgundy belt. William subtly echoed the look as he donned a velvet burgundy tuxedo jacket. It created a sophisticated balance between formalwear and understated matching. The velvet detailing made the couple look effortlessly in sync, while both their outfits created quite the buzz individually as well. 

One of the most recent style moments of the couple happened during the 2026 Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. Middleton was in a pleated coat dress by Catherine Walker in the shade of blue, with matching heels and a tonal hat by Sean Barrett Millinery. William was beside her in the exact shade of blue in his attire, evident in his suit and tie. For the Wales couple, whose coordinated fashion moments continue year after year, their complementary style is no longer just a wardrobe habit but sheds light on their enduring partnership.
