Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken on greater royal responsibilities as King Charles continues his cancer treatment. For William, this also includes conducting investiture ceremonies, where individuals are formally honored for their exceptional service. What many don't realize is that these occasions hold deep emotional significance to the recipients' families. Royal fans got a rare glimpse of this side after the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a new video offering a different perspective on royal duties.

The clip shared on @theprinceandprincessofwales' Instagram offers a glimpse into the unbridled emotions of families watching their loved ones receive honors from the future king. Captioned, "Loved ones receiving honours at Windsor Castle 🎖️," it shifts focus away from William's formal role and the recipients themselves, instead capturing the visibly emotional reactions of their family members. The video follows the Prince of Wales's March 24 investiture ceremony, where television writer Sir Roy Clarke and the Waleses' nanny, Maria Turrion Borallo, were recognized for their services to entertainment and the royal family. Borallo received the Royal Victorian Medal in silver, which is an honor awarded by the King for loyal service to the royal family.

After William and Middleton's team shared the wholesome clip, royal watchers couldn't hold back their emotions. Commenting on the poignant exchange, a netizen said, "Ohhh, I love this. What pride they show. Tears in my eyes." In a similar vein, another gushed, "Such a beautiful perspective! ❤️" A royal fan also pointed out, "You can really feel the effort and emotion behind this moment, so special to see ✨💕." As the comments poured in, a person opined, "I love seeing the happiness and pride in the honoree. So important to see who is behind the greatness!" A fan also commented, "Love this. People showing up in their finest."

Interestingly, while William, Princess Anne, and King Charles are often seen carrying out investiture ceremonies, Middleton and Queen Camilla have never done so. While royals marrying into the family are not forbidden to host them, those in the line of succession traditionally conduct this particular duty. However, there have been times when a non-blood member has stepped in to host investitures in place of the monarch. For instance, the Queen Mother performed more than 50 investiture ceremonies, from the 1950s to the 1980s, during the late Queen Elizabeth's long reign.

Among the current senior royals, Anne, often hailed as the hardest-working royal, is said to carry out the most investiture ceremonies. A report in The Times had also alleged that she was upset with William for not conducting enough of these 'bread and butter' duties. Meanwhile, the royal family's website states that anyone in the UK can recommend a British citizen to be bestowed with an honor. It reads, "This ensures that many people who are not in the public eye are recognized for their valuable service and contribution, perhaps to charity, to the emergency services, or to their industry or profession."
