William Isn’t the Only One Wary of Harry’s Return — Another Royal Plans to Absolutely 'Steer Clear'
If Harry expected a frosty reception from William, another royal may prove even harder to win over.
Prince Harry is set to return to the UK next month, potentially bringing his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. This highly anticipated visit marks the family's first visit to Britain together since 2022, when the couple flew down to the UK after the Queen's passing. The trip is expected to spark speculation about potential reunions with senior royals, including King Charles and Harry’s cousins. However, while some family members may welcome the Sussexes back, one royal is reportedly planning to keep a distance. And surprisingly, it is not Prince William.
There is no hiding the fact that Harry and William are now at loggerheads, although they were once close, and are now estranged, with their paths going in different directions. With one shouldering responsibilities and being the future of the monarchy, the other is building a life way away from the royal clutches. While it is still unclear whether the brothers will unite or not, there is also another royal who is going to be, if not more, then equally wary of Harry. And it is none other than Queen Camilla.
Labelled as "Wicked" Stepmother by Harry in his memoir, Spare, Camilla has every reason to be circumspect of Harry. As per a Times report, the Queen will be “staying well clear” and is “unlikely to get involved” with Harry and his wife. On the other hand, it is reported that the King is looking forward to Harry's visit, as it will be the first time in a long while that he gets to meet his grandkids, Archie and Lilibet. While he offered the couple an option to stay in Buckingham Palace, they are said to have refused the invitation, as per Time. This gives Camilla all the more reason to "steer clear" from the Sussexes.
Harry and Markle will be visiting the UK to ring in the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 event. However, as per royal expert and author Tom Bower, the real reason is something else. On The Royalist podcast, he stated that the couple came 'crawling' back to the UK as "I think you can summarize it in two words: desperation and failure." He continued, "They’ve run out of ideas, and their finances are basically in jeopardy."
He claimed that the couple will not be getting any regal welcome but will be treated as normal people. "We’re seeing them effectively crawl on bended knees back to Britain, and they are to be pathetically grateful if the king agrees," he added.
