William and Harry Could Reportedly Be Brought Together by Two Royal Women — and It's Not Kate or Meghan

There are two people who have quietly remained close to both princes and could one day help bring them together.

Prince Harry and Prince William's feud has been ongoing for years now, and while the brothers have kept their distance, with only rare occasions bringing them into the same room, there finally seems to be some hope for reconciliation. Harry is now back in the UK, and neither his brother nor his sister-in-law has reacted to it; however, here are two people who have quietly remained close to both princes and could one day help bring them together.

The ones who could bring the brothers together are none other than Princess Diana’s older sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes. Both sisters have spent decades maintaining their relationship with both William and Harry. They seldom come out in public; according to a Daily Mail report, the sisters are reportedly close to both. One prime example was that both William and Harry attended their uncle Lord Fellowes's funeral in August 2024, and, according to the outlet, it was Sarah and Jane who ensured the brothers didn't have to cross paths. 

While William and Harry did not speak at all at the funeral, the mere fact that they tolerated each other under the same roof despite their feud speaks volumes about the influence their aunts have on them. A source told the same outlet, “The aunts have maintained excellent links with both William and Harry and do their best to keep them close. They have tried to heal rifts as the brothers have grown apart, without any success, but have not tried to force a reconciliation.”

Unlike Charles Spencer, Sarah and Jane have rarely spoken publicly about Diana. Their approach has been much more private and practical. They stepped into a maternal role for William and Harry after their mother’s death, attending their school sporting events and remaining part of important family occasions. Interestingly, Sarah and Jane are noticeably absent from Charles Spencer’s controversial new book, Swan Song. 

Talking about it, a source shared, “On the one hand, they want to always honor their lost sister, but they don’t see the point in pushing on with a royal feud that belongs in the past and could, even now, destabilize the monarchy.” They continued, “They aren’t really concerned about the King’s feelings but the fact that Diana’s son, their nephew, will one day wear the crown.” Another source said the sisters were likely to have told their brother, “Go ahead, Carlos (their nickname for Charles), but don’t involve us.” 

Perhaps that difference explains why Sarah and Jane could remain important figures if William and Harry ever decide to repair their relationship. They remember Diana, but do not appear to live in the past. As one source put it, “Diana will never be forgotten, but neither do they overplay it. And when Harry or William are together with them, she is rarely mentioned unless they are discussing something specific. For them, life goes on, and family is about the here and now.”
