There's One Royal Who Reportedly Pushed Eugenie to Share Her Pregnancy News with King Charles
Princess Eugenie reportedly felt uncertain about sharing her pregnancy news with the wider Royal Family.
After a period of turbulence, it looks like the House of York has found a beautiful reason to celebrate. Earlier this month, Princess Eugenie took to social media to share some surprising news, delighting both the Royal Family and the fans. She posted a photograph of her sons, August and Ernest, holding an ultrasound image to reveal that she is expecting her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank. As the news spread, well-wishers flooded her comment section with congratulatory messages, with Buckingham Palace also later confirming that King Charles was 'delighted' by the joyful update. While the announcement seemed personal, it turns out there may have been a gentle nudge behind the scenes. New reports indicate that it was actually Zara Tindall who persuaded her cousin to share the happy news with the monarch.
As per The Mail on Sunday, Eugenie initially hesitated to share her pregnancy news with the wider Royal Family. This uncertainty allegedly stemmed from the ongoing controversies surrounding her parents, the loss of their York titles, and the significant fallout from her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s, arrest in February. However, after Tindall encouraged her to personally reach out to the King via an Easter card and a carefully penned letter. Following that private conversation, Palace officials issued an official statement about her pregnancy on May 4.
The statement read, "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer." They added, "August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news." It's worth mentioning that although the newborn baby will take 15th place in the line of succession, the child will not be receiving an HRH style or hold the title of prince or princess.
While Eugenie happily reached out to her uncle, the Palace’s decision to publicly announce her pregnancy has not been welcomed by everyone. For instance, royal expert Richard Eden labeled the situation a 'terrible mistake,' arguing that the York sisters should be kept at a distance from official royal matters, at least until all the allegations against their father are resolved. During his appearance on the Palace Confidential podcast, Eden said, "I have to say, I think this is a mistake. In the Palace putting out this announcement, it indicates the King supports Eugenie and her sister Beatrice and wants them to remain in the Royal fold in the future."
"It would be much better if the Royal Family kept them at arm's length, at least for some time," he added. However, the host of the podcast and fellow commentator, Rebecca English, said that the Palace’s decision did not surprise her, noting that Charles has previously made it clear that Beatrice and Eugenie should not be punished for their father’s mistakes. English further said, "The Palace has a big press machine. They can handle these kinds of announcements and the volume of inquiries that inevitably come in."
