Sarah Ferguson Reveals The One Thing That Kept Her Awake At Night
She highlighted her emotional recovery after facing a traumatic life update by identifying herself as a "survivor."
Sarah Ferguson has been living a nightmarish few months after being linked to the Epstein case along with her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The former Duchess of York is rumored to be returning to the UK after her exit from public life and time abroad. Her fears, as she described them in a 1996 interview, were never really about the dark.
"I sat up in bed and slept with my eyes open because I was so scared of the dark. I thought that if I slept with my eyes open, I could see any spooks coming towards me. I realized that my fear of the dark was my fear of the demons inside myself and the black treacle, my fears and anxieties that were inside myself," Ferguson told Canadian TV host Dini Petty during an exclusive with CTV.
The former Duchess, who had just experienced a traumatic divorce from Andrew, reasoned that her paralyzing fears were the direct result of the chaos happening in her life. She highlighted her emotional recovery by identifying herself as a "survivor." She expressed a newfound realization that everything is ultimately okay, even as she acknowledged the long and challenging battle ahead. "I'm still here," she affirmed.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Ferguson will be renting a six-bedroom gated property in the Home Counties. She lost her title in October 2025 following revelations about her ties to the late financier, alongside Andrew. She was thought to have been at a Swiss chalet in Verbier after leaving Royal Lodge, her ex-husband's former home.
Recently, reports surfaced suggesting she is writing a "tell-all memoir" to improve her reputation after plotting the perfect comeback. However, her spokesman dismissed the rumors, stating, "There have been no discussions, and she is not writing a personal memoir; it's not what she's going to do," per HELLO!
