Royal Expert Warns 'Things Can Only Get Worse' For The Monarchy Amid Andrew Scandal
The British monarchy has been plunged into what experts describe as ‘grave jeopardy’ following a weekend of unprecedented humiliation for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. As a massive tranche of three million documents was released by the US Department of Justice, King Charles faces mounting pressure to sever ties with his younger brother permanently.
The newly released documents have laid bare the depths of the disgraced former Duke’s association with the late financier. Among the most damaging evidence are photographs, reportedly taken at Epstein’s New York mansion, showing Mountbatten-Windsor on all fours, kneeling over an unidentified woman. While the files do not explicitly suggest illegal activity, the images have ignited a fresh firestorm of public outrage.
Writing for the Daily Mail, royal commentator A.N. Wilson warned that the latest revelations represent a terminal threat to the ‘magic’ of the monarchy. In his assessment, he wrote, “The revelations about Andrew, Fergie and Epstein are among the most devastating to happen not just to the Royal Family, but the monarchy itself,” Wilson stated, also adding, “I believe it could be in grave jeopardy as a result.” The commentator noted that the monarch has worked tirelessly to maintain the credibility and dignity of the institution during his reign, despite ongoing health battles, but the “taint of Andrew” is becoming impossible to ignore. “Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, his appalling ex-wife and their disgusting late friend Epstein are making it impossible to believe in [the magic] any longer,” he observed.
He further suggested that Sarah Ferguson and Mountbatten-Windsor’s ‘greedy’ and ‘coarse way of life’ has again caused significant reputational damage for the Royal Family, and this time, it might be a blow they can’t recover from. While Wilson was quite brutal with his evaluation of the situation, the latest document dump has provided a grim look into the social circle surrounding the late financier. Several undated images show the disgraced royal in casual attire, crouching over a redacted female on a striped carpet. Then, emails from 2010 reveal that Epstein offered to introduce the former prince to a ‘beautiful’ 26-year-old Russian woman, to which Mountbatten-Windsor allegedly replied he would be ‘delighted’ to meet her.
The disclosures also suggest that invitations were extended for Epstein to dine at Buckingham Palace to ensure ‘privacy’ shortly after his initial 2010 release from house arrest. Following these revelations, the fallout has been swift. On February 2, reports emerged that the former prince was ‘kicked out’ of Royal Lodge in the middle of the night. He is apparently staying temporarily at Wood Farm on the King’s Sandringham Estate while awaiting the completion of renovations at Marsh Farm. Insiders suggest the King felt he had no other option but to distance the Crown from the ongoing scandal as Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US officials continue to call for Mountbatten-Windsor to testify.
The crisis also comes at a delicate time for King Charles. Despite his efforts to modernize the Firm, the shadow of the Epstein scandal continues to lengthen. “The seriousness with which he prepared for his Coronation was a sign of how much he wants us all to believe in the ‘magic’ still, for he knows that the monarchy’s survival depends on it,” Wilson noted by concluding, “Things can get only worse.”
