Real Reason Why Meghan Markle Is Moving Back to the UK Despite Not Wanting To

While Harry appears ready to reconnect with his home country, Markle may not be looking at the UK as a permanent destination just yet.

As news of her UK return broke, many were left asking the same thing: why is Meghan Markle really coming back after six years?

Her disdain for the country is no secret. To add more to the mix, Prince Harry and Markle have also reportedly enrolled their kids in a local school. While Harry appears ready to reconnect with his home country, new claims suggest Markle may not be looking at the UK as a permanent decision just yet. Her recent move is apparently only to appease her husband.

According to a new report on Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, the couple’s marriage is facing serious strain, with their move to Britain potentially becoming an attempt at fixing things. Shuter claims Markle did not initially want to return to the UK and is still uncomfortable with the idea, but it was the only way to save her marriage. “They are not in a good place,” shared a source.

Detailing more about the couple's recent rough patch, the insider added, “Harry is deeply unhappy, and Meghan knows she cannot keep asking him to live a life that is making him miserable.” The insider continued, “Meghan is not doing this because she wants to. She is doing it because she believes she has to. She does not want to lose Harry, and she knows something has to change.” However, Markle may not actually be viewing the move as a permanent shift.

As per another report from Shuter, Markle has agreed to spend six months in Britain as a “test.” An insider explained, “Meghan is agreeing to try it, but she isn’t moving back to Britain. Six months is the test. She wants an exit strategy.” The six-month arrangement would also give her time to see whether life in Britain works for her and their children. She is expected to continue working on her lifestyle brand, As Ever, while Harry would be closer to the charities and causes he has remained involved with.

However, the situation could also put Harry in a difficult position if the trial period does not go as planned. “Eventually, Harry may have to choose between his wife’s happiness and his country. That is the nightmare scenario nobody wants to talk about," explained a source. For now, it seems like the Sussexes appear to be giving Britain another chance.
