Queen Camilla Likely to Retreat to Family Home as Charles Eyes Reunion With Harry: Report
As Prince Harry returns to the UK, new reports shed light on Queen Camilla's quiet approach to any possible family reunion.
Prince Harry is visiting the U.K. today, but there still seem to be a lot of questions left unanswered. In fact, reports suggest that King Charles is hopeful about repairing his clearly strained relationship with Prince Harry. However, according to several royal experts who spoke to Fox News Digital ahead of Harry’s July 7 trip, Queen Camilla has plans to remain on the sidelines if and when the father and son choose to meet during the trip.
Discussing the possibility of reconciliation, the royal experts seem to agree that Camilla is planning to support Charles in his hopes. But, at the same time, she has no intention of getting personally involved in the whole situation. Royal experts also explained that while Camilla wants the King, who continues to undergo cancer treatment, to have the opportunity to spend time with his younger son and his grandchildren, she remains cautious. After all, complete trust within the House of Windsor has yet to be fully restored.
"Personally, I feel Camilla has been supporting Charles in his ambition to reunite with Harry, but Camilla regularly protects Charles' interests," the royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner told the outlet. On the other hand, the royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams, added, “Camilla is a believer in duty. She cares for the King and knows the rift has caused him worry." Meanwhile, the royal expert Hilary Fordwich contributed, saying, "While Camilla has been a force for stability and is unlikely to block Charles if he really wants to meet with Harry, she'll be keeping her distance.”
Fordwich also elaborated on the fact that she prefers to avoid complicating matters by saying, “She and the King are in lockstep, preferring calm over any confrontation. If the king does meet with Harry, given the high level of trust issues, it's likely to be just them rather than any extended family." Katie Nicholl, the Vanity Fair royal correspondent and co-host of The Royals Uncensored, went on to explain how Queen Camilla has always encouraged the King to put his pen down and take a break sometimes, instead of working all day long. In fact, she has also suggested that he should go and spend some time with his grandchildren, motivating him to be more family-focused. Nicholl also expressed, “I think if Camilla has been behind the scenes trying to encourage this reconciliation, that shows enormous strength of character on her part."
The broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard also said Camilla would back a private meeting between Charles and Harry and that she has, time and again, proven herself as a valued and hardworking senior royal. Chard also added how she stepped up, doing her best for the King and country. Discussing the reconciliation, she further said, “Despite not trusting the Sussexes, she is adamant that she wants the best for her husband. However, she doesn't suffer fools. Camilla will be nowhere to be seen. Most likely, she will be at her beloved Ray Mill house in Wiltshire."
