Princess Kate Goes Blonde in Latest Outing and Royal Fans Have Same Thing To Say: ‘She Looks...’

Kate Middleton is known for her chic fashion choices and look transformations that influence British style. Such is her influence that the Princess of Wales has brought about what's dubbed the ‘Kate Effect’, where her outfits at public appearances sell out within hours. In one such fashion-forward moment, she stepped out on August 24 for a church service at Crathie Kirk near Balmoral, debuting lighter blonde locks. Royal fans couldn’t get enough of her refreshed look, noting the striking departure from her signature dark brunette hair.
Middleton was photographed in the passenger seat beside Prince William, wearing a dark blue coat with a matching hat that complemented her dirty-blonde mane. As reported by PEOPLE, she had colored her chestnut tresses into a golden-brown hue, styling them in loose waves beneath the hat. The new look marked a striking shift from her recent Wimbledon appearance in July, where she sported dark brown locks. Middleton has rarely strayed from her signature brunette shade, making her appearance at the church service the first time she has experimented with such a light blonde.

After photos of Middleton's recent appearance made the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), royal watchers couldn't stop appreciating her refreshed look and believed it best suited her. A netizen gushed, "Nice to see her looking so well after her health struggles. The blonde suits her." In a similar vein, another commented, "Glad she beat cancer and I hope it stays that way." Meanwhile, a royal fan beamed, "Yo, lookin' fresh, Kate! That new color's got you shine like a diamond, ya dig?" As the comments poured in, another opined, "She looks lively, whatever she does, many women look up to her choices of style and colours."
Another theory that was floated on X was that Middleton's hair only appeared blonde because of the sun. A royal watcher argued, "Apparently, it was the sun." However, one noted, "If it were 'the sun', then she would have been blonde before she married William."

Meanwhile, British psychologist Carolyn Mair believed that Middleton's change in hair color reflected her wish to draw attention to herself after experiencing hair loss following her cancer treatment. She told Fox News Digital, "Hair is our crowning glory and a symbol of health and femininity. Kate might want to make a fresh start by embracing a lighter outlook on life." She continued, "I don’t know if Princess Kate lost her hair during her treatment, but if she did, she might want to color it blonde as a means of drawing attention to it. She may be reclaiming agency and visibility, and leaving her illness behind." The Princess of Wales was joined by William, their three children, and King Charles and Queen Camilla for the Crathie Kirk service.
