Princess Eugenie May Be Forced to Leave Kensington Palace ― Just Weeks Before Welcoming Baby No. 3
Growing speculation over Princess Eugenie's future at Kensington Palace has cast a shadow over the news of her third pregnancy.
Princess Eugenie is expecting her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank. She joyfully announced it in May, via Instagram, sharing a photo of her sons, August and Ernest, holding an ultrasound scan, and revealing that the baby is due this summer. While it's obvious that the Brooksbank family is growing and might need a bigger space, there is another royal issue on the horizon. The family splits their time between London and Portugal, and they currently live at Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace. Because the quaint palace estate has only three bedrooms, they may explore transferring to a larger Crown Estate house; however, there is a catch.
The Public Accounts Committee is looking into royal rentals in light of the controversy surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's "peppercorn rent." The preferential treatment of non-working royal family members in lease negotiations has received public backlash, and a formal review could threaten their living arrangements on palace grounds, HELLO! reported. This means that the Brooksbanks might have to evacuate the palace premises if necessary, adding additional strain for Princess Eugenie amidst her parents' controversies and an impending childbirth.
The National Audit Office's website provided an overview of the Crown Estate's management of high-value residential properties, including updates on leasing arrangements for Royal Family-occupied properties and the Royal Household's provision of properties within occupied royal palaces for its members. In an official statement, Committee chairman Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown expressed gratitude to The Crown Estate Commissioners and HM Treasury for their support over the issue, emphasizing the Public Accounts Committee's role in promoting a decent solution to taxpayers' concerns.
Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie might consider welcoming her third child in Portugal. The Brookbanks own a stunning villa, part of an opulent complex along the Alentejan coast. They relocated to Europe in 2022, when Jack began working for Discovery Land Company, and are known to live among famous neighbors, including Christian Louboutin. Princess Eugenie regularly shares family photos from their beach trips on her social media. During an exclusive with HELLO!, she mentioned that her two sons love the beach life.
"They love swimming," she revealed about her two boys. "The sea in Portugal's a little bit rougher," she added, "so we've got our feet in, but Augie is a fish. He literally loves it, and we have whales and dolphins all across the walls." Given the family's strong preference for a luxurious coastal lifestyle, Eugenie may want to live away from the constant royal snubs and her parents' endless scandals.
