Princess Eugenie Makes Bold Move at Royal Ascot, Silences Feud Rumors With Harry and Meghan
Princess Eugenie's bold move at Royal Ascot came just weeks after rumors surfaced about her alleged rift with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Of all the royals, Princess Eugenie has reportedly been the only one to stand by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since their move to the US in 2020. That loyalty did not stop British journalist Piers Morgan from claiming that Harry and Markle were very angry with her after she was seen hugging him at a pub. But the Princess subtly shut down those salacious rumors during her recent appearance at Royal Ascot on June 20. Eugenie was spotted snapping a selfie with Markle’s close friend, Misha Nonoo, which put feud rumors to rest once and for all.
Eugenie attended day 4 of the mega event last week alongside King Charles, Queen Camilla, Sarah Ferguson, and Jack Brooksbank. Her friendly selfie with Nonoo suggests she remains on good terms with Harry and Markle, as Nonoo is one of Markle’s closest friends. As reported by People magazine, Eugenie’s encounter with Nonoo came just weeks after Morgan on in an April episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, claimed, "I was seen hugging them [Beatrice and Eugenie] goodbye, and Harry saw this and went completely ballistic. And I can confirm...that this is entirely true."
The alleged rift between Harry and Eugenie was also exacerbated by a report in The Sun, which claimed that the Duke cut his cousin off after she was photographed acting chummy with Morgan. A source dished, "A dim view was taken of this...Eugenie has been supportive of Harry and Meghan for years and was right there at the beginning of their relationship, but it has now soured." Even royal expert Matt Wilkinson spoke of Eugenie and Morgan's controversial bond on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show and opined, "They went for a pub lunch and there was a bit of upset in Montecito because obviously Piers Morgan and Meghan have bashed heads in the past and Harry has bashed heads in the past and that they took a dim view of Eugenie going out for a pub."
Amid the swirling rumors, a Sussex insider, however, rubbished claims of a feud, telling People magazine, "The Duke remains close to Princess Eugenie. They always have and always will be." In 2023, Harry was seen sharing a light-hearted moment with Eugenie during Charles’s coronation, a stark contrast to his frosty interactions with other royals. As for Markle, her friendship with Nonoo dates back to 2015, when they were often photographed together at fashion events. If Nonoo truly had issues with Eugenie, she wouldn’t be seen smiling warmly with her behind Markle’s back.

Harry and Markle have remained close to Eugenie following their royal exit in 2020. In his memoir, Spare, the Duke shared how the Princess got along easily with Markle "as if they were sisters." Eugenie was also the only royal member included in the footage of their Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan. The docuseries featured photos of the Sussexes partying with Eugenie and Brooksbank on Halloween in 2016, and the Princess playing with Prince Archie by the beach in LA.
