Princess Charlotte Scores Special Gift as Prince William Hits The Mall for an Impromptu Cricket Game
As William played cricket alongside legends, the attention that was supposed to be his soon diverted towards his daughter, Charlotte, but why?
Prince William gave royal fans a glimpse of his playful side when he stepped out for a surprise cricket match outside Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. The Prince of Wales joined some of the biggest names in cricket, such as Greg James, Sir Jimmy Anderson, and Issy Wong, for a fun game on The Mall, drawing attention from onlookers as he showed off his batting skills. The sporty outing also came with a sweet bonus for his daughter, Princess Charlotte, who received a special gift during the event.
As William played alongside England Test captain Joe Root, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, West Indies legend Brian Lara, England women's captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, and England white-ball captain Harry Brook, the attention briefly shifted from the Prince to his daughter. During the outing, Sciver-Brunt presented him with a red and blue T20 cricket shirt specially made for Charlotte.
The shirt, designed for the 2026/2027 season, featured the embroidered Three Lions crest. The future King looked delighted as he accepted the special gift for his daughter. Charlotte is known to enjoy playing cricket, making the present particularly thoughtful. The 11-year-old reportedly plays on her school team at Lambrook in Berkshire and has previously shown off her bowling skills.
Earlier this year, she was seen bowling on the beach in a birthday video released by her parents, William and Princess Kate. Former England cricketer Michael Atherton even praised her technique in The Times, noting that she had a "straight arm" and "nice run-up." He also described her bowling action as "decent," adding: "It's great to see a female royal who loves cricket."
The Princess was also recently spotted along with her mother taking a tube on London's Elizabeth Line. As per a report by HELLO!, she looked "amazed" as she looked around the carriage. Detailing Kate and Charlotte's day out, a source told the outlet, "They spoke to members of the public sitting across from them. They had security with them, and Catherine held Charlotte's hand getting off at Tottenham Court Road." The insider continued, "The security didn't make it obvious they were there, and they tried to make it as 'normal' as possible."
