Princess Charlotte made an unexpected appearance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, over the weekend, accompanied by her parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, and her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis. During the visit, the Wales family sat back and watched several sporting events, including track cycling and netball, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Beyond cheering from the stands, they took time to meet with participating athletes to compliment them on their hard work, while also greeting dedicated volunteers and one supremely cheeky mascot. Throughout the outing, the royals appeared relaxed and cheerful, frequently stopping to chat with attendees and acknowledge the effort involved in making the event a resounding success.

In fact, the Princess’s meeting with the mascot was extra special. Finnie, a unicorn representing the beautifully mystical national animal of Scotland, was dressed in white and light blue hues with dark pink and purple hair and was full of playful energy. The mascot kept the atmosphere lighthearted as the family greeted volunteers outside the venue, with the whole royal family—including Charlotte—stopping to shake hands with Finnie.

The mascot’s cheerful antics quickly caught everyone’s attention, creating one of the day’s most memorable interactions. As the Wales family paused to converse with volunteers outside the SEC Centre, a sudden gust of wind caught a few of them off guard. Even Charlotte, who was wearing a dress, felt the sudden chill and wrapped her arms around herself to stay warm, all while sweetly smiling through the moment.

Interestingly, the unicorn mascot ended up noticing Charlotte’s reaction and playfully mimicked her by shivering back, poking fun at the unexpectedly chilly weather and drawing laughs from the whole group. The Princess responded in a charmingly sweet way—she laughed it off and gave Finnie a high-five for the relatable gesture, prompting Prince Louis to follow his elder sister's lead and high-five the mascot as well. The whole moment was pure, wholesome fun. Watch the video here.

While the visit showcased the family’s support for the Commonwealth Games, this unscripted exchange with Finnie stole the spotlight. The brief yet heartwarming moment offered another glimpse of Charlotte’s growing confidence during public engagements, highlighting the fact that the young royal just knows how to instinctively connect with people around her.
