Known for her deep commitment to the British military, Princess Anne, on Tuesday, May 19, hosted the annual Not Forgotten Association Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. The royal has served as the patron of the charity since 2000 and, over the years, has welcomed over 2,000 veterans and serving personnel to the palace grounds. While the party had several praiseworthy performances and highlights, the center of attention remained on the Princess and her close resemblance to her mother.

Carrying forward the noble tradition that dates back to 1921, Anne recently hosted the concluding Garden Party of the season and was accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. The Princess used the afternoon tea, musical performances, and garden tours to bring camaraderie and a special day out to beneficiaries living with injuries, illness, or isolation. For the day, the Princess wore a meticulously tailored pale blue spring coat dress from designer Maureen Baker. She paired it with a perfectly coordinating hat and black gloves.

For the accessories, Anne kept it chic with a pearl necklace. Royal watchers quickly noticed the Princess Royal’s striking resemblance to Queen Elizabeth in terms of their fashion choices. The royal completed her look with a pair of matching pearl drop earrings, a set she has inherited from the royal jewel collection and was previously worn by the Queen at events like the Royal Ascot in 2019. From the outfit to the jewelry, Anne's party looked indeed like an ode to the late monarch.

Princess Anne’s garden party attire offered a beautiful nod to Queen Elizabeth II, closely mirroring her mother’s iconic later-year style, particularly her famous 2019 Royal Ascot outfit. Both looks had the same color play, with pastel shades taking over, accompanied by a pearl-layered pearl choker. The late Queen was widely celebrated for pairing vibrant or pastel tailored dresses with her signature pearls and matching millinery during formal summer events, and Anne seemed to have adopted the very same styling route.

The Princess, by adopting this exact stylistic formula, effortlessly evoked her mother’s image. She reminded the guests of the late monarch's royal flair and comforting presence at these grand, open-air palace gatherings. While her fashion paid homage to the past, Anne's warm and lively interactions with the guests had their own fan base. In a heartwarming exchange, she had a chat with 100-year-old D-Day veteran Robert Piper.

The centenarian war hero stole the spotlight by cheekily telling the famously industrious royal that she "has got to slow down" while also praising her for her hard work. Anne has a reputation for being the hardest-working royal and a complete professional who knows all the answers beforehand. Taking the lighthearted advice in stride, the hardest-working royal smiles and demonstrates that her connection to the public, much like her timeless wardrobe, remains completely unwavering.
