Prince William has always been vocal about his deep love and passion for adventure, and often takes part in thrilling outdoor activities that are actually quite challenging physically, after taking some time away from royal duties. For instance, in May 2021, during his time in Scotland, William was seen competing with his wife, Kate Middleton, in a land yachting race. He has even publicly admitted that he loves cold water dips, and recently, the Prince decided to sneak into the freezing waters of the Isles of Scilly.

William made an appearance on the popular show Heart Breakfast, joining hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden for a fun interview. Although they discussed a wide range of topics, at one point, the discussion turned to the climate of the Isles of Scilly, with the Prince praising the destination for its breathtaking scenery and natural beauty. This was when Holden asked, "What's your favorite thing to do in the water when you're here? Because it's freezing. Do you wear a wetsuit or are you a Speedo man?"

Responding to it, the Prince of Wales revealed, "I wasn't in a wetsuit last night, Amanda. And I thought I'd be brave. It was fresh." Theakston then interrupted him, asking for confirmation on whether he was actually at the beach on a chilly night. William stated, "Last night, when I got here, I had a quick dip. It's good. There's a lot of screaming and a lot of heavy breathing, so I'm not pretending I stayed in there very long. But I'm happy to go in for a bit." The revelation left the hosts stunned, with Theakston visibly struggling to believe it, while Holden reacted by saying, “It’s a bone-filling experience.”

During a visit to Colwyn Bay in November last year, William spent time walking along the shoreline with members of the Marine Conservation Society’s Youth Ocean Network. There, he also met a local cold-water swimming group, the Colwyn Bay Blue Tits. While chatting with the swimmers, he revealed that he had previously taken cold dips while in Scotland, and admitted that the experience is often surprisingly refreshing. As reported by the BBC, he said, "I love it. I do a lot of yelling and screaming when I get in." Turns out Prince William isn’t the only royal who enjoys such water adventures. During a 2023 podcast appearance, Kate Middleton revealed her own love for cold-water swimming, especially in dark and rainy weather. That same year, she accompanied William on a snorkeling adventure during their trip to the Bahamas.
