Prince William Becomes Kate Middleton’s Knight-in-Shining Armor in Awkward Moment
Prince William and Kate Middleton have always created cute moments whenever they have made joint appearances, and they created one more at Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling's wedding on Saturday.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s love story seems like it’s straight out of a fairytale. From college sweethearts to parents of three beautiful kids, they have come a long way. And yet, the pair has proven time and again just how strong their bond is. Their joint appearance at Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling’s wedding was another testament to their romance, as William jumped in to save his princess from an awkward situation.
Unsurprisingly, the weather on Saturday morning had been rather awry, with occasional rain. When William and Middleton stepped out of the All Saints Church after the wedding ceremony, it had started pouring again. To the Princess of Wales’ further misfortune, she had opted for a cream dress, which could have easily been ruined in the rain. William seemingly sensed that, as he held an umbrella over her head until they reached the gates.
The Princess of Wales appeared carefree as she smiled at the attendees, in the comfort of the knowledge that her husband was shielding her from the showers. After the couple reached the gates of the church, a staff member quickly held an umbrella over the royal’s head as she proceeded to their car. Surprisingly, William had taken the wheel and soon enough, the couple drove off into the sunset. Or more likely, to the wedding reception hosted by Princess Anne at Gatcombe Park.
Middleton might have been reminded of her own 2011 wedding, looking at Sperling, who, just like her, had gone with a lace option for her wedding gown. The newest royal bride had trusted Emily Wickstead to prepare the dress for her special day, and it was certainly a stunning outfit. Sperling flaunted the column dress with a high neckline and intricate lace detailing with the ease of an experienced royal.
While the Princess of Wales had picked a neutral color palette for her ensemble, William had chosen a dark blazer, grey trousers, a white shirt, a blue vest, and a matching tie for the occasion. He also sported a light beard, a style he has wholeheartedly embraced now.
Middleton completed her look with a cream hat, beige purse, and matching heels. She didn’t forget to wear her iconic sapphire engagement ring for the event.
