Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently reestablished their base in Britain, making a ‘grand homecoming,’ with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. They even opted for an exorbitantly expensive private flight, which landed at Birmingham airport, just so they could bring their family pets, Mamma Mia and Pula, along with them. According to reports, their decision to move back was motivated by their need to be closer to King Charles and other family members, reconnect with the community, and secure their children’s future.

However, it turns out that even the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s homecoming has yet to bring them closer to reconciling with Prince William and Princess Kate. According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE regarding the feud between the brothers, “returning home presents Harry with the best opportunity to repair the years-long rift with his older brother.” However, a source close to the Prince and Princess of Wales made it clear that they are choosing to remain calm and trying to take a cautious approach with this situation. The source added that William and Middleton have been doing their best to maintain their distance.

They are also playing their cards carefully by avoiding any sort of “knee-jerk reaction” to the Sussexes’ grand move. Elaborating on this, the insider said, “They are watching this space. It’s private—they don’t feel the need to say anything or demonstrate anything outwardly.” Meanwhile, in terms of any potential reconciliation discussions between the brothers, the source explained that a deep sense of betrayal remains between the Waleses and the Sussexes, and therefore, “any reconciliation will be a slow build.” In the meantime, King Charles reportedly wants their feud to finally be brought to an end.

A source close to the King noted that "Charles will want to see his sons together over time. This is the best opportunity we have seen in recent years." However, an insider who knows both brothers went on the record to say, "I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest. But there has been no movement, especially on William’s side. There is no contact." This ongoing silence has left royal watchers concerned about the future of the brothers’ relationship. As of yet, neither the Sussexes, the Waleses, nor their representatives have issued any official comment regarding these claims.
