Prince Harry Reveals the Two Most Famous People in His Contacts — But Meghan Markle Didn't Make the Cut
Harry was recently on his podcast, and his wife might not be very happy with his cheeky answer.
Prince Harry visited the UK this month for the events organized in the run-up to the 2027 Invictus Games. Through his hectic schedule in his home country, he also made time to make an appearance on former British rugby player Joe Marler’s podcast, ‘Joe Marler Will See You Now’. While humor seems to be an integral part of the Windsor genes, the Duke of Sussex brought his A-game to the table as he teased Marler at every opportunity. During a rapid-fire round, Harry was asked to name the most famous person on his contact list, and his prompt and rather humorous reply might not sit well with his wife, Meghan Markle.
Harry mentioned that the most famous people in his contact list were “probably” Dylan Hartley and James Haskell, the two former rugby players with whom Marler has had on-field fights. The answer was clearly the Duke’s attempt to crack a joke at the host’s expense, but in doing so, he seemingly forgot that his wife was also a Hollywood starlet and quite famous herself.
Although the Duchess of Sussex was thrust into the global spotlight when she married Harry in 2018, she was a star in her own right before the royal wedding. She was one of the main stars of the popular show Suits and has continued her journey into the entertainment industry after departing from the royal family in 2020. After shifting bases to the US, Markle had her own Netflix lifestyle show, her own podcast on Spotify, and became an entrepreneur with As Ever. However, the Hollywood star still didn’t make the cut as the most famous person on her husband’s contact list.
Irrespective, Harry’s efforts of getting into Marler’s head succeeded the minute he mentioned Hartley and Haskell. While the crew seemed to burst into laughter, the former rugby player rolled his eyes, as his co-host Jake Bhardwaj chimed in, saying, “Decent”. The Duke looked to him for support, as he asked, “Right? You've seen them play rugby?” Bhardwaj fanned the flames further by saying Hartley and Haskell were “very good” and could make a “sport worth watching”. Harry further added that they were also “good-looking”.
Finally, Marler seemingly had enough of the teasing as he stated, “There'll be a heavy edit on this episode of which I don't actually have any control, but thank you for that.” He moved on to the next rapid-fire question, but not before pin-pointedly calling him “H”, a nickname Harry had mentioned was a shorter version of his government name earlier on in the episode. Incidentally, ‘H’ is a nickname that Markle, the same person who skipped Harry’s mind when asked to name the most famous person on his contact list, uses for him.
The Duke’s podcast appearance comes after he and Markle met with King Charles at Highgrove, along with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Palace described the meeting as a “private family occasion” and said it took place away from cameras and the media.
