Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent a special weekend in Montecito before flying to the UK for an extended stay.
There has been much intrigue about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the UK. The pair, along with their two children and pet dogs, arrived in Birmingham this week and are currently focusing on settling into their new environment. But as questions and doubts continue to loom over the comeback, sources close to the couple recently revealed how they spent their final weekend in Montecito.
The Sussexes reportedly spent their last weekend in California with their near and dear ones, including their children’s friends and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland. “They wanted to spend time with the people they’re closest to before they left and for the kids to have some special time with friends,” a source told PEOPLE. However, the source hinted that the family of four could return to the US, as they added, “It wasn’t a goodbye forever. It was much more, ‘We’ll be back, but this is what we’re doing right now.’ “
While the UK move was reportedly under consideration for quite some time, actually packing their bags and leaving their dream life in Montecito was hard on Harry and Markle. “They’ve been planning this for some time, and they feel it’s the right thing for their family, but that doesn’t mean leaving was easy,” the source mentioned. While Pula and Mia accompanied the family across the pond, the Sussexes famously left their chickens in the US. Certainly, it wouldn’t have been an easy parting.
“Meghan really loves their life in Montecito and their home there. They know it’s going to take a little bit of time for everyone to settle in and adjust,” the source stated. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would likely need some time to get used to their new surroundings, relatively different culture, and recover from jet lag. They are expected to join their new schools in the UK next month. The source added, “There’s excitement about what’s ahead too, especially for the kids. They’re really happy for them, and for everything they’ll get to experience.”
On the other hand, the Duchess of Sussex might be planning to enter her old stomping grounds. She is reportedly in talks for season 3 of the popular Netflix show The Gentlemen and is supposedly fielding several acting offers. Markle might also join her husband, who must currently be busy planning the 2027 Invictus Games, for public engagements in the UK.
No concrete details about the Sussexes’ accommodation plans or Archie and Lilibet’s schools have been revealed. They have returned as private individuals, and their future in the monarchy is foggy.
