According to reports, the Duke of Sussex recognized echoes of his own past in Brooklyn’s situation and sought to help him navigate the emotional and reputational fallout that comes when a deeply personal family rift spills into the public arena. 

The behind-the-scenes involvement got center stage through a report by RadarOnline. It claimed Prince Harry felt compelled to look out for Brooklyn Beckham as he prepared to break his silence. An insider told the outlet that the Prince had endured his own high-profile split from the royal family in 2020, sees “clear similarities” between his experience and Brooklyn’s growing feud with his parents, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham. The source said Harry has been advising Brooklyn how to handle media attention carefully, warning that once the story is made public, it can never be pulled back.

Journalist Rob Shuter also revealed further details about the alleged converations though his Substack. He said, “Harry sees a lot of himself in Brooklyn,” and cited a source saying, “He doesn’t want Brooklyn to make the same emotional and strategic mistakes he made when he first broke away.” As per the insider, Harry’s adviced, “Don’t burn everything at once. You only get one chance to tell your story the right way.” Drawing directly from his experience of publishing his memoir, Spare, Harry "stressed that honesty works best when it’s controlled, thoughtful, and human," shedding light on the long-term cost of unfiltered disclosures. 

That perspective forged through personal loss framed Harry’s guidance as more mentorship than meddling. The source mentioned, “He told him the freedom is real — but so is the fallout. You lose people. You get misunderstood. And once it’s out there, you can’t take it back.” While describing the dynamic bluntly, another insider expressed, “This is mentorship born from scars. Harry’s trying to help him survive the part no one prepares you for.” As Brooklyn’s statements gained traction, social media users were quick to draw parallels with a meme fest erupting on X comparing Harry and Brooklyn as estranged sons pushing back against powerful family brands. 

Brooklyn shared in his own words on Instagram through the story feature, said to have reflected the very risks Harry warned him about. The former wrote, “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private.” He added that his parents “continued to go to the press”, leaving him no choice but to speak out. He declared, “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.” He accused his parents of controlling the narrative and placing “countless lies in media,” and later alleged attempts to undermine his marriage with Nicola Peltz, including claims of wedding disputes and pressure to sign away rights to his name.
