Prince Archie Could Follow Prince George Footsteps — and Prince Harry Might Not Be Too Happy About It
Prince George is set to join Eton College within the coming days following in the footsteps of his father and uncle.
Prince George turned 13 this July and is starting at the prestigious Eton College, the same school his father, Prince William, and his uncle, Prince Harry, both attended. According to PEOPLE!, Prince George will join F Block at Eton in Year 9. Harry, though, was not a fan. In his memoir Spare, he called Eton 'a profound shock' and joked that being shocked was the point: "The finest school in the world for boys, Eton was meant to be a shock, I think." However, it appears that the Duke might have reconsidered, as his children are now attending British schools, and, further, Prince Archie may look up to his cousin for inspiration.
According to the UK Express, Harry is reportedly keen for his children, Archie and Lilibet, to be educated in the UK. If the family maintains a permanent base in the UK, seven-year-old Archie might attend Eton College, as his father did. Experts suggest that early schooling is crucial for admission into such prestigious institutions, possibly influencing the family's decision to relocate. It is believed the Sussex children will be day pupils and that their school is located near the family’s new privately rented home, which is confirmed to be outside of London.
However, the exact location remains undisclosed for security reasons. British Vogue writer Plum Sykes weighed in on the issue during one of the recent episodes of The Royalist podcast: "He's (Archie) coming up to that critical prep school age, which is seven, eight. That's when you get in the pipeline for, drumroll please, Eton. It starts at seven or eight. You have got to go to the correct feeder school for Eton. Harry went to Eton," she explained while discussing it with her brother, Tom Sykes.
"I cannot imagine that there would be any other school they would rather send their son to than Eton," she added. Royal expert Tom Sykes suggested that Archie will likely attend Eton due to its exceptional privacy, which is necessary given its population of wealthy students. He emphasized that the school is highly secure, making it a suitable choice for someone with significant security concerns. According to reports, Markle had voiced concerns about school runs once her children begin classes. The couple has yet to secure police protection.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry had expressed his desire to forge a strong bond with Prince George in his memoir Spare.
The Duke had explained his excitement about watching George grow up. He wrote, "I couldn't wait to teach him about rugby and Rorke's Drift, flying and corridor cricket - and maybe give him a few pointers about how to survive life in the fishbowl," HELLO! reported. With Harry now in the UK for an extended period of time, it will be interesting to see if he gets the chance to make his wish come true.
