PRINCE William and Princess Catherine were on hand to help guide their eldest son into an exciting new chapter.

Prince George officially entered the next phase of his life, becoming a student at the prestigious boarding school, Eton College. The 13-year-old entered the grounds along was with his parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, on his induction day at the new school.

His youngest sibling, Prince Louis, could potentially follow in his footsteps and attend the same institution; however, the brothers are unlikely to be there at the same time.

During an exclusive conversation with royal expert Lydia Alty, Royal Observer's Associate Editor Joshua Rom pointed out that William had his younger brother, Prince Harry, by his side at Eton. Close in age, the two brothers were able to share much of the experience together — but George finds himself in a very different position.

“By the time Prince George finishes his A-levels, that will be the time where Prince Louis potentially starts at the school,” Rom explained. “Prince George, unlike Prince William, won't have his younger brother.”

Alty responded that the timing of the brothers’ school years is likely to keep them from sharing Eton. She said, “I think that by the time Prince Louis comes up and potentially goes to Eton, I think that Prince George will be at the end of his time at Eton.” The expert added, “I think that he'll go to either have a gap year or go to university, depending on what he chooses.”

Alty also described George’s first day at Eton as particularly poignant, as he began life at a new school without his siblings by his side. “It will also be a time where he's no longer a pupil at Lambrook. He's no longer with his siblings, and he's, you know, he will start afresh by himself, essentially,” she explained.

As an all-boys school, Princess Charlotte will not attend Eton College, as the Prince and Princess of Wales will choose a different secondary school for their daughter when she reaches the age of 13-years-old. Therefore, George will not have any siblings by his side during his time at the prestigious institution, unlike his father before him.

The Wales family walked through Eton’s historic School Yard in heavy rain before being greeted by headmaster Simon Henderson and provost Sir Nicholas Coleridge. “Welcome, good luck, enjoy it,” Henderson told George as they exchanged greetings. Moreover, George wore a baby-blue shirt with a dark-blue polka-dot tie, just like his father, although he chose a dark blazer and trousers instead of William’s checked suit.
