Fresh trouble looms for Meghan Markle just as her estranged sister, Samantha Markle, appeals the dismissal of her defamation case against the Duchess, where she had alleged harassment and threats. While Samantha’s chances of success appear slim, Markle now faces another potential blow as her former best friend, Jessica Mulroney, is reportedly planning an 'explosive' memoir. A source has revealed that Mulroney could command up to a seven-figure sum for her scathing tell-all about Meghan’s fall from grace and the end of their friendship.

Mulroney's long-term friendship with Meghan ended after the former's ‘white privilege’ scandal in 2020, when she had made racially charged remarks against Black influencer Sasha Exeter. Commenting on the frosty situation, an insider told The Mirror, "There's a huge interest in Jessica's perspective and her time in the royal spotlight when friends with Meghan." They continued, "People would rush to buy Jessica's book to know what really happened between them. Hers is the real story royal watchers want to read and are asking for." The two women had been best friends for years after meeting in Canada, where Mulroney had introduced Meghan to Toronto's glittering social circle.

The source believed that if Mulroney were to release a memoir, "it could entail opening up on her friendship with the royal." They explained, "She [Mulroney] was really put through the mud in 2020 and has had an emotional time since then, watching from the sidelines while it all played out in the media with false reports about her, and unable to say anything." They also suggested that a memoir could be her chance to set the record straight about a lot of things she was falsely accused of. Back when the scandal broke, Meghan reportedly reacted with shock after hearing of Mulroney's 'tone deaf' threats to sue Exeter, and swiftly decided she could 'no longer be associated with her.'

The insider continued, "No one had a voice for her [Mulroney] and helped her to get the truth out at the time, so writing a book would be the chance to reclaim her power…like the one about the treatment of Princess Charlotte during the bridesmaid's dress fitting in 2018 for Meghan's wedding to Harry." At the time of Mulroney’s scandal, a friend of Meghan had spilled, "She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation was tone deaf and heartbreaking."

Markle's tensions with her former best friend come shortly after Samantha's appeal. In her original court case, Samantha alleged that Meghan lied about being an 'only child' in her interview with Oprah Winfrey and that she changed her surname to 'Markle' after learning that the Duchess had married Prince Harry. Samantha's lawyer, Peter Ticktin, recently told Fox News, "The attorneys representing Samantha Markle and Meghan Markle will be making their arguments to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals...However, we can get a good idea of what is to come from the questions which the panel of three judges is more than likely to ask." An oral argument had been scheduled for September 9 in Jacksonville for the case.
