Meghan Slammed Over 'Tone Deaf' Princess Diana Detail in Friend's Photo — and It's Not the First Time

Meghan Markle returned to the UK last month along with Prince Harry and her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Duchess has been practically out of the public eye until recently, when she was spotted enjoying quality time at a local pub with her close friend Kelly McKee Zajfen. Later, Zajfen dramatically announced her visit to the UK with an emotional post and a carousel of pictures on Instagram depicting the Sussexes' recent countryside lifestyle. She also shared a few more updates on an Instagram story, which apparently did not sit well with royal fans who spotted a disturbing detail.
While the posted picture of her daughter looked innocent against the rustic British backdrop, fans could not help but notice the child was wearing pajamas featuring Princess Diana’s face. Enraged, they instantly called out Markle and her best friend on X for the disrespectful action.
"So Kelly Zajfen goes to the Cotswolds with #HarryandMeghan (is she living there now? She dresses her daughter in pajamas with #PrincessDiana’s FACE on them. Am I the only one that thinks that’s incredibly tone deaf, weird, and awkward? That’s your bestie's dead mother-in-law. Her husband's deceased mother. And you’re dressing your kid in jammies with her cartoon face on them. It’s not cute, and it’s not funny," @unreMARKLEble slammed. "My opinion: Kelly McKee Zaijfen is a grief grifter and has been since her own child tragically passed away. Kelly also dresses up her daughter, Lilly, in pyjamas with Diana’s face; how would Lilly know who Diana was?" another royal fan, @MeghansMole, added.
"Is this real?! Why on earth would you put your kid in pj’s with Diana’s face? I wonder what Harry thinks about this? The whole thing is beyond weird," @Karen6420 appeared shocked. "To have a cartoonish image of Diana on pajamas is vulgar & disrespectful. But then to involve your innocent child in this travesty," @lacy_skies pointed out.
This is not the first time Markle has been criticized for subtly referring to Diana. She earlier promoted As Ever merchandise featuring a swan symbol; later, she made another promotional post featuring a navy blue bookmark alongside a vintage Paris book that apparently showcased details of the spot where the late Princess of Wales lost her life.
Fans called her insensitive for supporting Charles Spencer's latest memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, which has already created numerous controversies and challenges for the royal family.
