Meghan Markle has carved a reputation as a savvy businesswoman, with her lifestyle brand As Ever frequently teasing new products. On January 29, she teased an upcoming Valentine's Day product, sharing a GIF of a chocolate bar resting on a tray with a neatly placed napkin underneath. While many viewed the post as a routine promotion, eagle-eyed royal watchers fixated on an unexpected detail, a weird shadow on the napkin, which some speculated looked like an oil stain, raising questions about hygiene and attention to detail.

The post shared on As Ever's Instagram was captioned, "Sweet favorites return, plus something brand new. Set your reminder — it won't last long. The As ever x @compartes Valentine's Day collection, coming Saturday." She teased the product as a 'love letter in chocolate,' set to arrive online just in time for Valentine's Day. The release marks another collaboration with Los Angeles chocolatier Compartés and is scheduled to launch on January 31. Along with the apparent oil stain, fans also took issue with the trays in the photo, accusing the Duchess of not adhering to proper cleanliness standards.

Netizens took to Reddit to point out the blunder. A netizen remarked, "Is there a large oil stain on the frayed napkin on the upper right corner?" Another said, "The square linen at the top right is downright stained! What is WRONG with her? This is basic stuff." A royal watcher sneered, "4 silver trays for one bit of unappealing chocolate. 4 nasty napkins, one frayed and a greasy spot." As the comments poured in, another zeroed in, "A scuffed-up bar of chocolate on top of unpolished silver trays with filthy napkins really says it all."

Additionally, eagle-eyed fans also believed that the tray in the picture was stained and expressed their displeasure. A netizen slammed, "That display looks like some horror in a badly run op/charity shop, a pile of cast-off old trays and some odd and ragged napkins." In a similar vein, another penned, "The circular one looks particularly dirty and smudgy…The bottom one almost looks like it could be a baking tray. Not appealing at all." Some even accused the Duchess of photoshopping the chocolate bars on the tray to make it look appealing.

On the same day, Markle came under fire for another post on her lifestyle website. It showed her reading a folded piece of paper bearing the name of her brand, As Ever. The black and white picture, featuring her in a hat and sunglasses, drew particular attention given her fashion choices. Royal fans quickly compared her look to that of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, accusing her of imitating the legendary actress. It was closely reminiscent of Hepburn's signature look in the movie, where she wore a wide-brimmed black hat and oversized black cat-eye sunglasses.
